Watch Video: Katrina Kaif’s Befitting Reply To Reporter Who Called Her “Just A Glamour Doll” For ‘Tiger 3’
A reporter called Katrina Kaif “just a glamour doll” for her role in ‘Tiger 3’, co-starring Salman Khan. Check out how gracefully she handled the question.
Katrina Kaif is one of the most popular actresses in Bollywood. She began her career in 2003 with ‘Boom’, and since then, she has starred in several memorable movies like ‘Namastey London’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Dhoom 3’ and ‘Singh Is Kinng’, among others. Katrina, who is one of the fittest stars in the Indian entertainment industry, has also mesmerised viewers with her killer dance moves in hit songs like ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’, ‘Chikni Chameli’, ‘Kamli’, ‘Zara Zara Touch Me’ and ‘Kala Chasma’ among many others.
The Bollywood actress was last seen in the 2023 Bollywood movie ‘Tiger 3’, co-starring Salman Khan and Emraan Hashmi. She is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming movie, ‘Merry Christmas’, co-starring South star Vijay Sethupathi. Recently, she attended an event in Mumbai. During the event, a reporter referred to her as “just a glamour doll” in connection with her role in ‘Tiger 3’. Instead of losing her calm, Katrina Kaif responded with grace and defended her portrayal in the Hindi movie.
In a video posted by Varinder Chawla on Instagram, Katrina Kaif seemed to have been taken aback by one of the media personnel who asked her what it's like to play a “nuanced character,” as opposed to “just a glamour role” that she did in ‘Tiger 3’.
Check out the viral video below:
“I see things a little different perhaps. I actually think the character of Zoya is one of the strongest characters I've ever had the chance to play. Especially in Tiger 3, it was so nuanced and so well-written by Maneesh Sharma. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to play that character,” Katrina Kaif said in her response to the reporter's question.
In ‘Tiger 3’, Katrina Kaif reprised her role as ISI spy Zoya opposite Salman Khan. Despite the movie receiving mixed reviews, she garnered praise for her performance. ‘Tiger 3’ grossed Rs 466.63 crore worldwide.
Coming back to ‘Merry Christmas’, the makers of the upcoming movie presented not one but two trailers filmed in both Hindi and Tamil during the promotional event in Mumbai recently. Apart from Katrina Kaif, the event was also attended by Vijay Sethupathi and Sanjay Kapoor, director Sriram Raghavan, and producers Ramesh Taurani and Sanjay Routray.
The makers also released a melodious track, ‘Nazar Teri Toofan’, sung by Papon, with lyrics penned by Varun Grover, and music composed by Pritam.
Working with Sriram Raghavan, the director of hits ‘Ek Hasina Thi’, ‘Johnny Gaddar’, ‘Badlapur’, and ‘Andhadhun’, was always on Katrina Kaif's "bucket list".
“For me, working with Sriram Raghavan was always on my bucket list to do and he's been one of my favourite directors. When I heard the story, I was in awe that I was going to get to work with him in a story like this which was so incredible. And also it was right for me, that's why sir and I came together for this film. He must have also seen that in the character,” Katrina Kaif said.
‘Merry Christmas’, produced by Tips Films and Matchbox Pictures, is set to be released in theatres on January 12.
