From 'Fighter' To 'Singham Again': List Of Major Hindi Films Releasing In Theatres In 2024
In 2024, films like 'Fighter', 'Singham Again', 'Merry Christmas', and more will be releasing in theatres.
2023 was a solid year for Bollywood and the Hindi film industry regained some lost ground. The year truly belonged to Shah Rukh Khan as he delivered two major blockbusters in the form of 'Pathaan' and 'Jawan'. His third release of the year -- Rajkumar Hirani's 'Dunki' also did reasonable business but it failed to create the same magic as 'Pathaan' and 'Jawan'. Sunny Deol's 'Gadar 2' and Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' also came off as rousing success stories. 2023 had four Hindi movies which did business of more than Rs 500 crore in India.
There were some controlled-budgeted films like 'Zara Hatke Zara Bachke', 'Satyaprem Ki Katha', 'The Kerala Story', 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani', '12th Fail', 'OMG 2', and 'Sam Bahadur', which also tasted success when they released in theatres in 2023.
Riding on the success of 2023, the Hindi film industry would hope to build on the momentum in 2024. There are several tentpole releases slated to hit the screens in 2024.
Here's a list of the major Hindi releases for 2024:
1. Merry Christmas
Director Sriram Raghavan is coming back with a film after a gap of more than six years. The upcoming Hindi film stars Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi in leading roles. The trailer was released in December 2023, and it was appreciated by fans. The romantic thriller is slated to release in cinema halls on January 12, 2024.
2. Main Atal Hoon
Pankaj Tripathi stars in this movie as former India Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Directed by the National Award-winning filmmaker Ravi Jadhav, the film is scheduled to release in theatres on January 19, 2024.
3. Fighter
Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film stars Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor in leading roles. This is the first time that Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone have been cast in a movie together. Siddharth Anand would hope for 'Fighter' to have the same level of success as his previous two releases -- 'War' and 'Pathaan'. The film will be releasing in cinemas on January 25, 2024.
4. Yodha
Sidharth Malhotra will once again don the army uniform and he will be starring in 'Yodha' alongside Raashii Khanna and Disha Patani. The film directed by Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha, will be releasing in cinemas on March 15, 2024.
5. The Crew
The film directed by Rajesh Krishnan stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, Kriti Sanon and Diljit Dosanjh in the lead roles. The plot of the film is set against the backdrop of the struggling airline industry. It will be releasing in theatres on March 22, 2024.
6. Metro...In Dino
The Anurag Basu-directorial stars ditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkana Sensharma, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Shaikh in prominent roles. The film is a sequel to the 2007 film 'Life in a… Metro'. It is slated to release in theatres on March 29, 2024.
7. Emergency
Kangana Ranaut will be playing the role of former India Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. The movie was earlier slated to release in 2023, but it was postponed to 2024. No release date has been announced yet. The film is based around the 1975 emergency period which was imposed by Indira. Apart from playing the lead role, Kangana is also producing and directing 'Emergency'.
8. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan
This Ali Abbas Zafar-directorial stars Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in leading roles. The film is slated to release in theatres on the occasion of Eid 2024. No major details about the plot have been revealed yet.
9. Singham Again
Rohit Shetty is expanding his cop universe with 'Singham Again', and the upcoming Hindi film stars Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Deepika Padukone. As of now, the film is slated to release in theatres on August 15, 2024.
10. Stree 2
The much-anticipated sequel of 'Stree' will be releasing in cinemas on August 30, 2024. The upcoming Hindi film will star Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana in leading roles. The film is being helmed by Amar Kaushik.
11. Jigra
Directed by Vasan Bala, the film stars Alia Bhatt in the leading role. The film which is being backed by Dharma Productions, will be releasing in cinema halls on September 27, 2024. For the unversed, Vasan Bala is known for projects like 'Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota' and 'Monica, O My Darling'.
12. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3
Kartik Aaryan will be reprising his role as Rooh Baba in the third installment of the 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' franchise. The makers had earlier stated that the film will be releasing in cinemas on Diwali 2024.
13. Welcome To the Jungle
'Welcome To The Jungle', is the third installment of the hit film franchise 'Welcome'. Directed by Ahmed Khan, the film star cast includes Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Mika Singh, Rahul Dev, Mukesh Tiwari, Sharib Hashmi, Inaamulhaq, Zakir Hussain, Yashpal Sharma, along with Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, and Vrihi Kodvara. The film is set to hit theaters on December 20, 2024.
