"Shameless, Disgraceful": Outrage On Social Media Over Poonam Pandey Faking Her Own Death
Poonam Pandey's publicity stunt has not impressed social media. The actress faked her own death to create awareness for cervical cancer.
Actress and model Poonam Pandey is no stranger to controversy. She has always tried her best to remain in the public chatter! However, what she has done over the course of the last two days, might just be the craziest thing a celebrity has done. Poonam Pandey "faked" her own death in order to create awareness about cervical cancer. Well, there are several ways in which you can create awareness about a serious illness, and it is a noble cause if one decides to create awareness about such a serious problem, considering there are several who grapple with this life-taking illness.
However, faking your own death just because you want to create "awareness" is not right in any manner. Poonam Pandey has always been a polarising figure because of her knack of being involved in controversial matters, but everyone on Friday had some nice things to say about her as a person, when news broke that she had passed because of cervical cancer. There was a section of fans, who was not willing to buy this news, saying it is looking a "marketing gimmick".
Well, who knew these fans were right? Poonam Pandey on Saturday announced that she is "alive" and she "faked" her own death to create awareness about the illness.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote, "I feel compelled to share something significant with you all - I am here, alive. Cervical Cancer didn’t claim me, but tragically, it has claimed the lives of thousands of women who stemmed from a lack of knowledge on how to tackle this disease. Unlike some other cancers, Cervical Cancer is entirely preventable."
As soon as she posted this on Instagram, users called out the actress for a "disgusting" and "shameful" marketing gimmick.
Here are some of the comments on Instagram:
"Next time people won't take you seriously, you just destroyed your entire credibility," wrote one user.
"WORST PUBLICITY STUNT EVER," wrote another user.
"This was the most ridiculous way to promote something," commented one user.
"RIP TO THIS PUBLICITY STUNT," commented another user.
The reactions are way worse on X (formerlty Twitter), and users are just letting it rip at Poonam Pandey for faking her own death. Some users are also abusing the actress for this disgusting social media campaign.

It is safe to say that Poonam Pandey will be remembered for a long time for this poor marketing gimmick.
For the unversed, Poonam Pandey was a popular model, and she first gained fame when she promised in a video message that she would strip if India ends up winning the final of 2011 Cricket World Cup.
On the work front, Poonam Pandey was last seen in the first season of Kangana Ranaut-hosted show 'Lock Upp'.
