Shah Rukh Khan joked about doing “chhaiya, chhaiya” on top of a plane, if Mani Ratnam agreed to work with him again.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and acclaimed director Mani Ratnam collaborated in 1998 for the film ‘Dil Se’. The movie was not able to do that well at the box office. However, it was very well received by the critics, and to date, many movie buffs say that the Hindi film was ahead of its time. Recently, Mani Ratnam gave a blockbuster in the form of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, and fans have been wondering whether the filmmaker will collaborate with Shah Rukh Khan again.

Recently, Mani Ratnam and Shah Rukh Khan were in attendance at an awards ceremony conducted by a major news channel. It was then that the two spoke about working together again, and the conversation took a rather hilarious turn.

SRK said, “Mani sir, what now? It’s all come out in the open now. I’m requesting you. I’m begging you. I’m telling you every time. Do a film with me, I swear, I will dance on top of a plane on ‘Chhaiya Chhaiya’, if you tell me. What is a train.”

On being asked when is he going to cast SRK in a film again, the director replied, “When I buy a plane.”

SRK immediately responded, “If I buy a plane,” Mani agreed, and said, “I'll do it.”

“Mani, let me just tell you, the way my films are going… this plane is not far away. I’m coming,” SRK said, and the entire crowd started laughing.

For the unversed, SRK had a smashing 2023 as he delivered three blockbusters in the form of 'Pathaan', 'Jawan', and 'Dunki'.

Collectively, all three films made over Rs 2,500 crore at the worldwide box office.

At the same awards ceremony, SRK accepted that he had been through some tough times, professionally as well as personally, in the last few years.

On the work front, SRK is expected to be seen in Sujoy Ghosh's next, which will mark the theatrical debut of Suhana Khan.

He is also rumoured to be starring in a film directed by Vishal Bharadwaj.
