Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ has taken the box office by storm, raking in massive numbers and outperforming expectations across all languages. The pan-India action fantasy epic is on track to earn in its opening week what the first ‘Kantara’ installment did in its entire theatrical run – a feat that firmly establishes it as one of the year’s biggest blockbusters. What’s more, it’s eclipsing competition in the Hindi market, notably Shashank Khaitan’s romantic comedy ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’, starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor.

On Tuesday (Day 6), ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ collected Rs 33.5 crore, slightly up from Monday’s Rs 31.5 crore. While the weekday dip was expected after a record-breaking weekend, the film’s pace remains formidable.

Its Sunday (Day 4) earnings of Rs 63 crore marked a significant jump from Saturday’s Rs 55 crore and Friday’s Rs 45.40 crore. The movie opened with a colossal Rs 61.85 crore on Thursday, benefiting from the extended Dussehra-Gandhi Jayanti holiday window.

According to Sacnilk, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ has now amassed a total of Rs 290.25 crore across India. The Hindi-dubbed version leads with Rs 93.25 crore – even surpassing the original Kannada version’s Rs 89.35 crore – followed by Telugu (Rs 57.40 crore), Tamil (Rs 27.25 crore), and Malayalam (Rs 23 crore). This pan-India performance underscores Rishab Shetty’s growing nationwide appeal.

With its current trajectory, the film is expected to cross the Rs 300 crore milestone today, making it one of the fastest Indian films to achieve the feat. Impressively, it is also poised to surpass the lifetime domestic collection of the 2022 original, ‘Kantara’, which had earned Rs 309.64 crore over 10 weeks.

In contrast, ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’, released the same day, is struggling to stay afloat. On Tuesday, the film earned just Rs 3 crore, while ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ made more than 11 times that amount across all languages. Even its Hindi version alone grossed nearly four times more than Varun Dhawan’s film. Currently, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’s total collection stands at Rs 36 crore in India.

‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ currently stands as the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2025, the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film of the year, and the third-highest-grossing Kannada film of all time.

Starring, written and directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Hombale Films, the film also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Bollywood actor Gulshan Devaiah.
