Every year, the Cannes Film Festival dazzles with cinematic brilliance but it’s just as much a runway of global fashion flair. This year, all eyes turned to influencer Nancy Tyagi, whose self-stitched beige ensemble stirred both admiration and scepticism online. As her look went viral, singer Neha Bhasin added fuel to the fire, accusing Nancy Tyagi of misrepresenting the outfit’s origins. What began as a celebration of DIY fashion has spiralled into a social media storm, dividing fans and sparking a heated debate about authenticity, creativity, and credit in the age of influence.

Taking to Instagram Stories, she accused Nancy Tyagi of falsely claiming she had stitched her own outfit. For the unversed, this was Nancy Tyagi's second appearance at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival.

The singer also shared an image of a similar outfit which she wore at one of her concerts in the past.

“This corset looks too familiar, hmmmm. Just wondering," she wrote on Instagram Stories. She also posted a collage of both the outfits side by side captioning it "Same Same."

Neha Bhasin also revealed that the dress was sourced from 'The Source Bombay', which is a fashion store in Bandra that sells and rents customised clothing.

She then shared a post featuring a similar outfit on Instagram Stories. "I rest my case," she wrote.

Earlier, while speaking to the Free Press Journal, Surbhi Gupta, the founder and stylist at The Source Bombay, had claimed that Nancy had purchased the dress from their store.

"Nancy claims she stitched it herself and all of that, but she bought it from us. She got it from our Mumbai store. We don’t have any problem. She purchased it, so she's free to do what she wants with it. But it is our design," she said.

"We didn't do a barter or a collaboration. She did not stitch it herself, which she claims she did. The cape she wore doesn't belong to me... that's something she seems to have made herself, I guess," she added.

The founder of the store also shared that Nancy Tyagi bought the outfit for Rs 25,000 before going to Cannes.

Speaking of Nancy's look, she wore a mini dress, pairing it with a floor-length cape jacket. On Sunday, she took to Instagram Stories to share pictures from her look at the Cannes Film Festival.

“Ye colour meri mummy ka favourite hai, isliye iss baar decide kiya ki isi colour mein dress design karun. Isse banane mein poora one month laga, aur main last moment tak taiyaari mein lagi rahi, kyunki dress kaafi heavy thi. Dil se shukriya un sabhi ka jo is pyaari journey ka ek hissa rahe, aap sabke bina yeh moment vapis itna special nahi hota,” she said.
