"Blew Me Away": 'Barbie' Actor Simu Liu Heaps Praise On SS Rajamouli's 'RRR'
Simu Liu recently praised SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' starring Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn.
Actor Simu Liu, who is known for his work in the Marvel movie 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings', will next be seen in Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' alongside Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. The new Hollywood film is slated to release in the theatres on July 21, and it will be going up against Christopher Nolan's star-studded film 'Oppenheimer'. While promoting ‘Barbie’, Simu Liu recently opened up about his fascination for Indian cinema.
Simu Liu also heaped praises on SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' starring Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn.
"RRR this year was so phenomenal. It was absolutely incredible. And, it blew me away," Simu Liu told Pinkvilla.
“There’s, you know, just the focus on musicality. There’s such music, songs like singing and dancing, like, you know, the actors are, are performing and they’re singing and there have to be such triple threats and yeah, I feel like, um, you know, I feel like it’s such a natural thing for an actor to look at Bollywood and to want to participate," he added.
'RRR' had bagged the Best Original Song award at this year's Oscars. The SS Rajamouli directorial also won a Golden Globe Award and two Critics Choice Awards.
Simu Liu is now the latest addition to the long list of Hollywood celebrities, who have praised 'RRR'.
Earlier, the likes of Russo Brothers, Jessica Chastain, Nathalie Emmanuel, James Gunn and Edgar Wright had all shown their love for 'RRR'.
‘RRR’ is a Telugu film that was dubbed in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam among Indian languages.
The film tells a fictional story based on the lives of two Telugu freedom fighters -- Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, with Ram Charan and Jr NTR playing the lead roles.
It was recently confirmed by SS Rajamouli's father and screenwriter of ‘RRR’, V Vijayendra Prasad, that the sequel of the hit movie is in the works.
He also confirmed that both Telugu superstars, Ram Charan and Jr NTR, will return for the sequel. However, ‘RRR’ sequel may not continue the same storyline. It is likely to be based on another chapter from the Telugu states of the pre-Independence era.
On the work front, Simu Liu is playing one of the versions of Ken in 'Barbie'. For the uninitiated, Ken is a fictional doll and it is the male counterpart of Barbie.
In 'Barbie', apart from Simu Liu, Ryan Gosling, John Cena and Scott Evans are playing different versions of Ken. Ryan Gosling is playing the main Ken while Margot Robbie is essaying the titular role.
