'House of the Dragon' star Milly Alcock has been chosen as the new 'Supergirl' by DC. For the unversed, Milly Alcock played the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first season of HBO's 'House of the Dragon'. As per Variety, the actress will be now playing the Woman of Steel in the new DC Universe headed by James Gunn and Peter Safran. She will be headlining the upcoming feature film 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow', which is based on the DC Comics run of the same name by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.
As per Variety, the project does not have a director yet, and Ana Nogueira was hired to write the screenplay in November 2023.
"This is accurate. Milly is a fantastically talented young actor, and I’m incredibly excited about her being a part of the DCU. Yes, I first became aware of her in House of the Dragon but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for #Supergirl. She embodies Kara as envisioned by @tomking_tk, @bilquis, and Ana Nogueira," James Gunn wrote on Instagram.

For the unversed, the Australian-born Milly Alcock started her acting career as a teenager on Australian television and it was then that she was cast in a breakout role on HBO’s 'Game of Thrones' prequel series.
The actress received widespread acclaim for her performance as the Targaryen princess in the first five episodes of the show.
James Gunn will be beginning the shooting for 'Superman: Legacy' and it might just happen that the character of Supergirl shows up alongside her Kryptonian cousin before setting off on her own story.
