'Inside Out 2' Beats 'Frozen 2' To Become Highest-Grossing Animated Film

Disney and Pixar's 'Inside Out' has beaten 'Frozen 2' to become the highest-grossing animated film of all time.

Disney and Pixar are experiencing one emotion, which is nothing but joy. In the latest entertainment news, Disney and Pixar's latest release 'Inside Out 2' has now beaten 'Frozen 2' to become the highest-grossing animated film ever. As per Variety, after six weeks of its release, 'Inside Out 2' has earned USD 601 million in the US and USD 861 million overseas, bringing its total global tally to a staggering USD 1.46 billion.

For the unversed, 'Frozen 2' which was released in 2019, they had earned USD 1.45 billion at the box office. 

In terms of global ticket sales, 'Inside Out 2' has also overtaken 'Barbie' to become the 13th-biggest movie of all time. 

'Inside Out 2' is also the fastest animated film to breach the USD 1 billion mark, having done so in just 19 days. 

The animated flick is also the highest-grossing movie of 2024 so far, and the only one to join the billion-dollar club this year. 

For the unversed, the first 'Inside Out' had earned USD 858 million globally. 

As per Variety, 'Inside Out 2' was also the first film since last year's 'Barbie' to debut above USD 100 million. 

“On behalf of movie theatre owners across the country and around the world, we want to congratulate Disney’s ‘Inside Out 2’ for grossing USD 1 billion faster than any animated movie in history,” Variety quoted Michael O’Leary, president and CEO of the National Association of Theatre Owners, as saying. 

“The film’s stunning global success once again illustrates that audiences the world over will respond to compelling, entertaining movies and that they want to enjoy them on the big screen," Michael added.

'Inside Out 2' has been directed by Kelsey Mann and the movie revisits a teenaged Riley, who ends up discovering new emotions of Anxiety (Maya Hawke), Envy (Ayo Edebiri), Embarrassment (Paul Walter Hauser) and Nostalgia (June Squibb) as she heads to hockey camp over the summer.
