Bombshell! Jada Pinkett Smith Reveals She And Will Smith Have Been Living Separately Since 2016
Though not legally divorced, Jada Pinkett Smith said that she and Will Smith had been living “separately” since 2016.
Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith have gone through some rough times in their marriage. The couple have in the past addressed numerous sensational rumours – from claims that they have an open relationship to unsubstantiated reports of Jada cheating on Will with Marc Anthony. And who can forget the infamous slapgate at Oscars 2022. The duo seemed to have braved the tough times to still remain together but truth can sometimes be stranger the fiction. In an interview with NBC, Jada Pinkett Smith dropped a bombshell, revealing that she and Will Smith have been living separately since 2016.
Though not legally divorced, Jada Pinkett Smith said that the couple had been living “separately” for about seven years.
The Hollywood actress made the shocking revelations in a NBC News prime-time special with Hoda Kotb, previews of which aired on Wednesday.
“Why it fractured, that’s a lot of things,” Jada Pinkett Smith said of her relationship with Will Smith.
“I think by the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying.”
“We were both kind of still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be,” she added.
Later in the preview clip, Jada Pinkett Smith revealed why she couldn’t go forward with legally divorcing Will Smith.
“I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever,” Jada Pinkett said in previews of the NBC interview.
“I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”
“We live separately,” she added.
Jada and Will Smith married each other in 1997. The couple have two biological kids Jaden and Willow Smith. Their third son Trey is from Will Smith’s earlier marriage with Sheree Zampino.
