The Academy shocked everyone after Margot Robbie (Barbie) was snubbed in the Best Actress category when the nominations for Oscars 2024 were announced. However, the star is not letting the Oscars snub break her spirit. In the latest entertainment news, Margot Robbie joined her 'Barbie' co-stars for a SAG-AFTRA discussion and it was then that she talked about her Oscar snub and the ensuing outrage.

“There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed," Variety quoted Margot Robbie as saying.

“Obviously, I think Greta should be nominated as a director. What she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing. What she pulled off, it really is. But it’s been an incredible year for all the films," she added.

However, Margot Robbie also said that she is "beyond ecstatic" with the film's eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Adapted Screenplay, Supporting Actor (Ryan Gosling) and Supporting Actress (America Ferrera).

“Everyone getting the nods that they’ve had is just incredible, and the best picture nod. We set out to do something that would shift culture, affect culture, just make some sort of impact. And it’s already done that and some, way more than we ever dreamed it would. And that is truly the biggest reward that could come out of all of this," said Margot Robbie.

“People’s reactions to the movie have been the biggest reward of this entire experience. Whether it’s seeing what people are writing online, or even just seeing how much pink I can see in this room right now…I’ve never been a part of something like this. Not like this. I’ve done comic book stuff and that gets a big reaction, but this felt very different. It still feels very different. And I can’t think of a time when a movie’s had this effect on culture. And it’s amazing to be in the eye of the storm," she added.

Earlier, Gosling had reacted strongly to 'Barbie' lead star Margot Robbie and director Greta Gerwig, being snubbed at the nominations.

“I am extremely honored to be nominated by my colleagues alongside such remarkable artists in a year of so many great films. And I never thought I’d being saying this, but I’m also incredible honored and proud that it’s for portraying a plastic doll named Ken,” Gosling said in his statement, as reported by Variety.

“But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no ‘Barbie’ movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally celebrated film," he added.

Oscars 2024 will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for the fourth time, and the event will be held on March 10 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

In India, the ceremony will be broadcast during the early hours of March 11 due to the time difference.
