Shakira Refers To Former Beau Gerard Pique As "Voldemort" In New Diss Track
Shakira has reflected upon her relationship with Gerard Pique and why she chose not to get married again.
It has been more than two years since 'Hips Don't Lie' singer Shakira parted ways with former husband and professional footballer Gerard Pique. However, it seems that the 'Wherever Whenever' singer has not forgotten the hurt and betrayal. In the latest Hollywood celebrity news, Shakira has reflected upon her relationship with Pique and why she chose not to get married again. "In a way, it’s kind of good not to have a husband because that… I don’t know why it was dragging me down, man,” she said during a recent conversation with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe on his podcast.
"Now I feel like working. I feel like writing songs. I feel like making music. It’s a compulsive need of mine that I didn’t feel before. When life gives you lemons, you have to make lemonade," she added.
For the unversed, Shakira had put her career on hold to focus on her relationship with Pique. However, she has now released a new diss track 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' (Women Don’t Cry Anymore) — her first song in seven years.
In the track, she has referred to Pique as "Voldemort".
‘Voldemort, that one that shouldn’t be mentioned? It’s hopefully the last song that I will write about this, and to him,” she said in a recent interview with The Sunday Times.
Shakira also said that she is trying to make the most out of the traumatic experience, and she is channelising her anger into better creativity.
"I am still healing. Only robots don’t experience pain but artistes pour their pain into their art," she said.
“There were many lessons in that whole experience. Society teaches us to conceal our feelings in front of our kids. But I think that’s a mistake, because they know better, and they perceive things in many different ways. But if you’re brave enough to talk about things, talk about it with them to understand how they’re perceiving reality as well," she added.
Shakira and Pique parted ways with each other in 2022. At that time, there was speculation that Pique cheated on Shakira.
"We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you for your understanding," Pique and Shakira had said in their joint statement.
