'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' has been banned in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia. As per several media reports, the presence of a transgender flag in one of the scenes has resulted in the new Hollywood movie being banned in some Middle Eastern nations. The latest Miles Morales' movie has been prohibited from releasing in the UAE and Saudi Arabia due to censorship rules. As per a report in Unilad, Saudi Cinema has stated that the new Hollywood movie would not be released in some parts of the Gulf region, since it "contradicts the content controls in force".

For the unversed, Saudi Cinema is managed by the General Commission for Audiovisual Media.

After the release of 'Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse', many fans speculated that the character of Gwen is a trans-ally.

In one scene in the movie, a trans flag with the words ‘Protect Trans Kids’ can be seen hanging on the wall of Gwen's room.

Screenwriters and producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller had earlier confirmed that 'Into the Spider-Verse' and 'Across the Spider-Verse' are a part of the Miles Morales' trilogy, which will end with 'Beyond the Spider-Verse'. 

The third film in the trilogy is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 29, 2024.

'Spider-Man: Across The Spider-verse' has been directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K Thompson, Shameik Moore voices Miles in the movie. 

The likes of Hailee Steinfeld, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Vélez, Jake Johnson, Jason Schwartzman, Issa Rae, Karan Soni, Daniel Kaluuya, and Oscar Isaac have also lent their voices for the film.

In the film, Miles goes on an adventure with Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman across the multiverse and he ends up meeting a new team of Spider-People known as the Spider-Society, led by Miguel O'Hara.
