Original 'True Detective' creator Nic Pizzolatto is making headlines for seemingly bashing the latest season of the series.

'True Detective: Night Country', which happens to be the fourth season of 'True Detective', aired its finale earlier this week, and it is fair to say that the last episode, which is an hour 12 minutes long, has met with mixed response. While the critics are calling it as "bonkers" and "wild", several fans have expressed their displeasure for an "underwhelming" final episode. In the latest entertainment news, original 'True Detective' creator Nic Pizzolatto is making headlines for seemingly bashing the latest season of the series.

For the unversed, 'True Detective: Night Country' is the first season, which has not been created by Pizzolatto himself. Issa Lopez has directed and co-written all the six episodes of the fourth season.

After the finale dropped, Pizzolatto opted to share negative reactions from fans who slammed the new season as "disrespectful and insulting” and a “hot mess.”

Finally, Pizzolatto's reaction has caught the eye of 'True Detective: Night Country' star Kali Reis, who headlined the show alongside Jodie Foster.

“That’s a damn shame. But hey I guess ‘if you don’t have anything good to share, shit on others’ is the new wave lol," she wrote on X.

Earlier, Lopez was also asked by Vulture about Pizzolatto’s criticisms earlier into the run of 'Night Country'.

Answering the question, she said, "I believe that every storyteller has a very specific, peculiar, and unique relation to the stories they create, and whatever his reactions are, he’s entitled to them. That’s his prerogative.”

“I wrote this with profound love for the work he made and love for the people that loved it. And it is a reinvention, and it is different, and it’s done with the idea of sitting down around the fire, and [let’s] have some fun and have some feelings and have some thoughts. And anybody that wants to join is welcome," she added.

For the unversed, 'True Detective: Night Country' centres around a murder mystery involving an Indigenous Alaskan woman.

In its review of the finale, Rolling Stone wrote, "True Detective: Night Country’ Just Gave the Series Its Best Finale Ever."
