Actor Bruce Willis' family has announced that the 'Die Hard' actor has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. It is important to mention that in March 2022, the actor was diagnosed with aphasia and hence he retired from acting. In a lengthy statement, Willis' family on Thursday announced that the actor has indeed been diagnosed with dementia.

“Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD). Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces," Willis' family wrote in a statement on the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration’s website, as per Variety.

"While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis,” the family added.

Rumer Willis also confirmed the same by sharing a photo of her father on Instagram.

When a person has Frontotemporal dementia, he or she can be characterised by personality changes, speech difficulty, and motor impairment.

It is the cause of 10 per cent to 20 per cent of all dementia diagnoses, as per the Mayo Clinic.

Talking about Bruce Willis' acting career, the seasoned actor first achieved fame with the comedy-drama series 'Moonlighting'. He gained the biggest recognition as an action hero after his portrayal of John McClane in the 'Die Hard' franchise.

Willis's some other credits include 'The Last Boy Scout', 'Pulp Fiction', '12 Monkeys', 'The Sixth Sense', 'Unbreakable' and 'Red 2'. He also played a cameo role in two episodes of uber-popular sitcom 'FRIENDS'.

As a singer, Willis had released his debut album, 'The Return of Bruno', in 1987, followed by two more albums in 1989 and 2001.

The actor is also a winner of several accolades including a Golden Globe Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and two People's Choice Awards. He also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006.
