Chris Rock Tears Into Will Smith Over Oscars Slap Controversy In Netflix Special 'Selective Outrage’
'Selective Outrage': Chris Rock tears into Will Smith for Oscars slap controversy, says everybody called him "b***h".
Almost an entire year has passed, but comedian Chris Rock had decided to stay mum about being slapped by actor Will Smith at Oscars 2022. However, Chris Rock has now finally spoken out about the entire chain of events that unfolded in his new Netflix comedy special title 'Selective Outrage'. For the unversed, at the last year's Oscars, Will Smith had slapped comedian Chris Rock for joking about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia.
Talking about being slapped on his Netflix special, Chris Rock said: "You all know what happened to me, getting smacked by Suge Smith. Everybody knows. Everybody f**** knows. I got smacked like a year ago and people are like, ‘Did it hurt?’ It still hurts. I got ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ears.”
“I’m not a victim baby. You will never see me on Oprah or Gayle King crying. You will never see it. It’s never going to happen. F*k that s, I took that s** like Manny Pacquiao," he said further.
Over the course of his hour long Netflix special, Chris Rock also addressed whether the slap hurt or not.
Talking about it, Chris Rock said: "Will Smith is significantly bigger than me. We are not the same size. Will Smith does movies with his shirt off. You’ve never seen me do a movie with my shirt off. Will Smith played Muhammad Ali in a movie. You think I auditioned for that part? I played Pookie in ‘New Jack City.’ I played a piece of corn in Pootie Tang."
During the comedy special, Chris Rock also brought up the infamous 'Red Table Talk' episode featuring Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, where the latter had admitted to having an affair with another man.
“His wife was f** her son’s friend. I normally would not talk about this s. I have no idea why two talented people would do something that f*** lowdown. We’ve all been cheated on. Everybody in here been cheated on. None of us has ever been interviewed by the person that cheated on us on television. She hurt him way more than he hurt me," said Rock.
Chris Rock then also said that he had tried to get in touch with Will Smith after the particular 'Red Table Talk' episode aired.
“Everybody in the world called him a b*. I tried to call the mf. I tried to call that man and give him my condolences. He didn’t pick up for me," said Rock. “Everybody called him a b* and who does he hit? Me," he added.
In 'Selective Outrage', Rock also implied that there was bad blood between him and the Smith family over the 2016 Oscars which he had hosted. That particular year, Pinkett Smith had called for a boycott of the ceremony due to lack of diversity in nominations.
"She f** said I should quit because Will didn’t get nominated for ‘Concussion.’ What the f? So then I do some jokes about it. That’s how it is. She started it. I finished it. Nobody’s picking on this b*. She started this s***. Nobody was picking on her," said Rock.
In his comedy special, Chris Rock also addressed the woke culture, and he said he is tired to see selective outrage. He also addressed the topics like abortion, Beyonce, the Kardashians and Meghan Markle.
While addressing how Markle had somewhat accused the Royal Family of being racists on the Oprah Winfrey show, Rock said: "You didn’t google these m*f?. What the f* is she talking about she didn’t know? It’s the royal family. They’re the original racists. They invented colonialism. They are the OG’s of racism. They’re the Sugarhill Gang of racism.”
Chris Rock's 'Selective Outrage' is available for streaming on Netflix. The special is 1 hour 9 minutes long.
