'RRR' won the Best Film-Non English Language award at the Golden Globes 2023.

'RRR' failed to pick up the win in the Best Picture: Non-English Language category at the Golden Globes 2023 and it was 'Argentina, 1985' that took home the prize. The expectations from 'RRR' were really high as the movie has been widely appreciated in the West and after winning the Best Original Song award, one was expecting to see 'RRR' pick up the win in the Best Film category as well.

However, it was not the case, and 'Argentina, 1985' went on to win the coveted prize. 'Argentina, 1985' defeated the likes of 'RRR', Korean romantic mystery ‘Decision To Leave’, German anti-war drama ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’, and French-Dutch coming-of-age drama ‘Close’ to take home the coveted prize.

Earlier, 'RRR' had bagged its first Golden Globe in the Best Original Song category. Composer MM Keeravani, along with singers Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj, won the award for 'Best Original Song', for the track 'Naatu Naatu'.

'Naatu Naatu', a dance number featuring stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan, was competing against Taylor Swift’s 'Carolina' from 'Where the Crawdads Sing', 'Ciao Papa' from 'Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio', Lady Gaga’s 'Hold My Hand' from 'Top Gun: Maverick', and 'Lift Me Up' from 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever', performed by Rihanna.

India had previously scripted history in the Best Original Score category over a decade ago, when AR Rahman won for Danny Boyle’s 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Rahman was also nominated in the same category for Boyle’s follow-up, '127 Hours'.

The Golden Globes 2023 is being held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The host for the ceremony is Jerrod Charmichael.

The nominations for the ceremony were announced on December 12, 2022.
