It’s a proud moment for India as Bengaluru-based music composer Ricky Kej won his third Grammy at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards for his most recent album ‘Divine Tides’. The album’s ‘immersive mix engineer’ is Eric Schilling, and among producers cited in the award are Herbert Waltl and rock legend Stewart Copeland, the drummer of the iconic band The Police. Ricky Kej created history by becoming the only Indian artist to win three Grammy awards.

His album was nominated in the Best Immersive Audio Album category. After winning his third Grammy, Ricky Kej took to Instagram to express his gratitude.

Along with sharing pictures, Ricky Kej wrote, “Super grateful, my 3rd Grammy Award.”

For the unversed, Ricky Kej’s ‘Divine Tides’ was competing with Christina Aguilera (‘Aguilera’), The Chainsmokers (‘Memories…Do Not Open’), Jane Irabloom (‘Picturing The Invisible- Focus 1’), and Nidarosdomens Jentekor and Trondeheimsolistene (‘Tuvahyun – Beatitudes for a Wounded World’).

Featuring artists from around the world, ‘Divine Tides’ album contains 9 songs and 8 music videos that were filmed around the world from the exquisite beauty of the Indian Himalayas to the icy forests of Spain.

For Grammys 2023, the Indian artist embraced his traditional roots and donned a bandhgala set.

Prior to this win, the Indian musician had won his second Grammy in the Best New Age Album category at the 64th Grammy Awards 2022. He had bagged the award for the same album along with rock legend Stewart Copeland.

In 2015, he won his first Grammy for ‘Winds of Samsara’.

The 65th Grammy Awards are being held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The ceremony is recognising the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility year (October 1, 2021, to September 30, 2022).

The nominations for Grammys 2023 were announced on November 15 last year.
