Beck had recently completed a tour in which he supported his collaborative album '18' with actor Johnny Depp.
He had brought great instrumental firepower to British band 'The Yardbirds', reported Variety. In 1965, he had joined the band as a replacement for Eric Clapton.
In 1975, he had switched to a mainly instrumental style and his releases spanned genres ranging from blues rock, hard rock, jazz fusion, and a blend of guitar-rock and electronica.
After his exit from 'Yardbirds', he was joined by another guitar star Jimmy Page. Later on his career, he went on to form his own band known as Jeff Beck Group, and it was fronted by vocalist Rod Stewart.
However, the group did not last long, and they went their own ways after just two albums.
Beck was inducted into the Rock Hall Of Fame twice.
The star had ranked in the top five of Rolling Stone and other magazines' list of 100 greatest guitarists.
