Madonna hits back at trolls who criticised her appearance at Grammys 2023.

Rather than staying away from social media after all the chatter about her physical appearance at the 2023 Grammys, Madonna seems to be up in arms as she has responded to the criticism with a lengthy post. Madonna, who has never shied away from speaking her mind, gave it back to trolls with a post shared on her Instagram account on Wednesday. In the post, Madonna shared a video which featured some of her favourite moments from music’s biggest night.

In the video, she could be seen posing with Cardi B and Sam Smith. She could also be seen sharing a kiss with Jozzy. Ab-Soul and DJ Honey Dijon also appeared in the clip. However, in the caption, she hit back at critics who trolled her for her Grammys appearance.

In the caption, the singer opened up about introducing Sam Smith and Kim Petras, before their ‘Unholy’ performance at Grammys 2023, which made Petras the first-ever trans woman to take the stage at the event.

"It was an honor for me to Introduce Kim Petras and Sam Smith at the Grammys," the 64-year-old singer began her post, adding that she initially wanted to be a part of another moment before joining Smith and Petra's historic one.

“I had wanted to give the last award which was Album of the year, but I thought it was more important that I present the first trans-woman performing at the Grammys— a History making moment!! And on top of that she won a Grammy,” wrote Madonna.

She continued her message and addressed the criticism she received for her appearance.

“Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim- Many people chose to only talk about Close-up photos of me Taken with a long lens camera By a press photographer that Would distort anyone’s face,” she wrote.

Madonna added, “Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny That permeates the world we live in. A world that refuses to celebrate women past the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong willed, hard-working and adventurous.”

Madonna went on to say that she has “never apologized for any of the creative choices” she’s made nor the way she looks or dresses, and she won’t start now.

In her lengthy post, she further wrote, “I have been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career but I understand that this is all a test and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come.”

She quoted lyrics from Beyonce’s ‘Break My Soul’ to continue her message: "In the words of Beyonce -- You won’t break my soul.”

“I look forward to many more years of subversive behavior -pushing boundaries-Standing up to the patriarchy -and Most of all enjoying my life,” she ended her note.

Madonna’s post comes after fans expressed their concern for the singer when they could barely recognize her at the Grammys 2023.

Talking about Grammys 2023, Beyonce and Harry Styles were among the big winners at this year’s award ceremony. The 65th Annual Grammy Awards, hosted by Trevor Noah, was held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 5.
