"She Is Bollywood Royalty": Fans Fume At Foreign Media Mistaking Deepika Padukone For Camila Alves At Oscars 2023
Deepika Padukone's pictures from Oscars 2023 were captioned as Camila Alves by leading foreign media outlets, leaving several fans upset.
Deepika Padukone has quite a bit of a reputation for ruling international red carpets and events as she has made appearances at several global events like the FIFA World Cup 2022 final, Paris Fashion Week and Met Gala. However, the biggest feather in her cap came during the Oscars 2023 as she introduced the performance of 'Naatu Naatu'. However, looks like not everyone is able to recognise Deepika Padukone even after so many international appearances.
Recently, three international media portals identified Deepika Padukone as Brazilian model Camila Alves after her appearance at the 95th Academy Awards.
For the unversed, Camila Alves is married to Hollywood bigwig Matthew McConaughey.
For the people not aware of the entire issue, Getty Images uploaded a picture of Deepika Padukone, however, they ended up making a gaffe in their description.
"Hollywood, California, March 12: Camila Alves attends the 95th Annual Academy Awards on March 12, 2023, in Hollywood, California," read the Getty Images description alongside a picture of Deepika.
um, getty images this is deepika padukone. you appear to have confused her with camila alves.

Buzzfeed in their article titled "87 Celeb Outfits From This Year's Oscars Red Carpet", ended up identifying Deepika Padukone as Camila Alves. However, Buzzfeed corrected their error within hours of the article going live.
Hey @BuzzFeed, this is Deepika Padukone (@deepikapadukone), the highest paid actress in Bollywood.

As soon as Deepika Padukone was identified as Camila Alves by the international media portals, fans were left outraged on Twitter and they quickly jumped to the rescue of the 'Pathaan' actress.

For the 95th Academy Awards, Deepika Padukone slipped into a gorgeous off-shoulder black Louis Vuitton ballgown and served old Hollywood glamour with her jaw-dropping look.
She also showed off a new tattoo - 82°E (inspired by her beauty brand) - on the neck.
Deepika accessorized the black gown with stunning diamond jewels, including statement rings, a bracelet, and a necklace.
The Bollywood actress rounded off her look with a centre-parted messy bun, winged eyeliner, nude pink lip shade, kohl-lined eyes, subtle nude eye shadow, feathered brows, rouged cheeks, and a dewy base.
Coming back to Oscars 2023, the ceremony was held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel hosted the mega awards night and this was his third time hosting the event, after the 89th and 90th editions of the ceremony which were held in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
The nominations for Oscars 2023 were announced on January 24 by Riz Amed and Allison Williams.
