Just in time to ruin your plans of ever sleeping peacefully again, ‘The Conjuring’ universe is expanding and getting its first TV show, which will arrive soon to give you nightmares! Yes, you read that right. A new TV series set in the world of ‘The Conjuring’ horror movies is in development for Max, the new streaming platform combining HBO Max and Discovery+, as per Variety. The news was announced on Wednesday during Warner Bros. Discovery’s unveiling of the Max streaming service.

According to Warner Bros., ‘The Conjuring’ television series will continue the story established in the popular films. Producer Peter Safran will serve as the executive producer for the series via his Safran Company banner.

James Wan, who produced and directed several films within ‘The Conjuring’ franchise, is in talks to also executive produce. Wan’s Atomic Monster Productions is backing the project alongside Warner Bros. Television.

However, no writer for the series is attached yet. The films in ‘The Conjuring’ Universe including ‘The Conjuring’, ‘Annabelle’, ‘The Conjuring 2’, ‘Annabelle: Creation’, ‘The Nun’, ‘Annabelle Comes Home’, and ‘The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It’ have collectively grossed more than USD 2 billion at the worldwide box office.

The next instalment in the uber-popular franchise, ‘The Nun 2’, will be released September 8, 2023.

The three ‘Conjuring’ movies revolve around demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga), who investigate and document paranormal events.

Other series announced at Wednesday's Max launch event, held in Los Angeles, included a new comedy set in ‘The Big Bang Theory’ world, a first look at the Penguin series, and new footage from ‘True Detective: Night Country’.
