Sinead Daly, whose credits include ‘Tell Me Lies’, ‘The Walking Dead: World Beyond’, ‘Raised by Wolves’, ‘Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency’ and ‘The Get Down’, is attached to write the script for ‘Twilight’ TV series.
Stephanie Meyers is also expected to be involved in the ‘Twilight’ TV series. Wyck Godfrey and former Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-president Erik Feig, who during his tenure at Summit Entertainment bought the rights to the ‘Twilight’ book series, are both attached to serve as executive producers of the upcoming series.
Talking about ‘Twilight’ book series, there were originally four novels — ‘Twilight’, ‘New Moon’, ‘Eclipse’, and ‘Breaking Dawn’ — published between 2005 and 2008.
For the unversed, the romantic fantasy novels follow the lives of Bella Swan, a teenage girl who relocates to a small town named Forks in Washington to live with her father Charlie Swan.
She soon falls in love with Edward Cullen, a charming and mysterious classmate who is later revealed to be a vampire. Meanwhile, Bella's best friend Jacob Black transforms into a werewolf.
Stephanie Meyers also released the book ‘Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined’ in 2015. Meyers then released ‘Midnight Sun’ in 2020, which told the story of the first book from Edward’s perspective rather than Bella’s.
The film franchise, known as ‘The Twilight Saga’, was comprised of five films and was released between 2008 and 2012. The five films grossed over USD 3 billion at the global box office in total.
The news of a Twilight TV series comes at the heels of HBO Max recently confirming that it was in early development for a Harry Potter television adaptation that will follow all the book series by JK Rowling.
