Nayanthara's 'Annapoorani' Removed From Netflix After FIR Against Film For "Hurting Religious Sentiments"
Streaming platform Netflix has removed Nayanthara's Tamil film 'Annapoorani' after an FIR was filed.
Lady Superstar Nayanthara's 'Annapoorani' had released in theatres in December 1, and the Tamil film failed to cause any ripples at the box office. The film opened to mixed reviews, and there was nothing great said about the movie. However, when it released in theatres, there was no backlash against the film, and no one found anything offensive with the content. However, Annapoorani's recent Netflix release has brought a lot of backlash towards the film. In the latest entertainment news, an FIR has been filed against the Tamil film for "hurting religious sentiments." Following the complaint, Netflix has removed the film from the streaming platform.
If you go and search 'Annapoorani' on Netflix, you would find nothing. Earlier, the film was available on the streaming platform in multiple languages.

Earlier, Ramesh Solanki, founder of the Hindu IT cell, in his complaint, said that the film is "hurting" Hindu religious sentiments.
As per India Today, the complaint was filed against actors Nayanthara, Jai, writer-director Nilesh Krishna, producers Jatin Sethi, R Ravindran, and Punit Goenka, Zee Studios Chief Business Officer Shariq Patel, and the head of Netflix India, Monika Shergill.
The complaint mentions that the film allegedly promotes "love jihad." However, it is important to state that Nayanthara's Annapoorani and Jai's Farhan share a friendly relationship in the film and there is no exploration of romantic themes.
In another scene in the film, character named Farhan convinces the lead actress to consume meat by explaining that Lord Rama has also eaten meat. In the climax, Nayanthara's Annapoorani ends up wearing a hijab and offers namaaz before making biryani in the final round of a cooking competition.
For the unversed, 'Annapoorani' tells the story of an ambitious woman who hails from a Brahmin family, and how she is torn between her passion and orthodox ideals.
