After “Dirty Show” Barb For Bigg Boss, Actor Karan Patel Issues Bizarre Clarification
Actor Karan Patel has issued a clarification after his “dirty, disrespectful show” jibe for Bigg Boss went viral.
Bigg Boss is one of the most popular Hindi shows in India. Eager fans wait all year round to see who will be the next set of people to enter the controversial Bigg Boss house. An appearance on the show seems to catapult a person’s popularity even if they are celebrities in some manner or the other. In the past few years, though, there has been a change in the sort of people entering the Bigg Boss house. Earlier, it was only restricted to TV and erstwhile Bollywood stars, but now from a common man, to social media influencers, new fresh faces, who can connect with the masses, are the personnel of choice. Speaking about the changing dynamics in the Bigg Boss house, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actor Karan Patel had criticised the show, saying “It’s become such a dirty, disrespectful show to even be associated with.”
Karan Patel’s comments went crazy viral on social media. While some were in agreement, others bashed him for his remarks.
Now, the actor has come up with a bizarre clarification. Initially, he said that he “did not even make” the comments in the “first place”. But reading further into his statement, posted on Instagram stories, Karan Patel seem to contradict himself, saying “I still stand by my words”.
“To finally put an end to all the uncalled-for reactions to a statement that I did not even make in the first place. When asked about Bigg Boss, I said the show has become far more lenient over the last few years and there is no limit to how low someone can go to character assassinate someone. Salman Bhai (host Salman Khan) has always requested the contestants week after week to mind their words as it’s a family show, and sometimes the episodes get so dirty that viewing it in the company of family members becomes shamefully awkward, and that’s the context I meant ‘dirty’ in, and not in any connection to the channel, the broadcaster, or the host. I have immense respect for all of them,” wrote Karan Patel.
“Having said that, I still stand by my words about having zero tolerance for any kind of character assassination of anyone on any show. Media, stick to being the medium and not the source for news,” he added.
The latest edition of the show, Bigg Boss 17, was won by comedian Munawar Faruqui. His win comes on the back of YouTuber Elvish Yadav winning the Bigg Boss OTT 2 edition.
