‘Anupamaa’ Actor Rituraj Singh Dies After Suffering Cardiac Arrest

Renowned Hindi television actor Rituraj Singh has died at the age of 59. The actor, who had been working in the entertainment industry for decades, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest. Rituraj Singh’s colleague and friend Amit Behl confirmed the news, saying that the actor had been hospitalised recently for a pancreatic illness. Amit Behl, who is also an actor, confirmed that Rituraj Singh passed away at 12:30 am on Tuesday.

In a statement to The Indian Express, Amit Behl said, “He was unwell. Was hospitalised 15 days back due to some pancreatic issues. Was back home few days back, but yesterday was feeling really weak and they rushed him to hospital. But he got the attack before reaching hospital.”

For the unversed, Rituraj Singh has appeared in TV shows such as ‘Banegi Apni Baat’, ‘Jyoti’, ‘Hitler Didi’, ‘Shapath’, ‘Warrior High’, ‘Aahat’, ‘Adaalat’, ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ and more.

More recently, he starred in the uber-popular show ‘Anupamaa’, featuring actress Rupali Ganguly in the lead role.

“I am shocked & heart broken on hearing the news! Someone posted the news on one of my WhatsApp groups early in the morning and since I have just been in shock. I have worked closely with Rhitu in Kahani Ghar Ghar Kii, he was one of the only actors who gave me a warm welcome on the show,” actor Sandip Sikand told The Indian Express.

“To say that he was a brilliant actor is an obvious thing, but more than an actor he was one of the finest human beings that I know. I am really saddened by the news. May his soul rest in peace and may his wife and kids get the strength to deal with this loss,” he added.

Actor Hiten Tejwani, who worked with Rituraj Singh in ‘Kutumb’, told The Indian Express, “I don’t know what to say. It’s sad. We lost a good human being and a great actor. My heartfelt condolences to the whole family.”

Several celebrities also took to X (formerly Twitter) to mourn the death of Rituraj Singh and express their condolences after the shocking news.

Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi wrote, “I am so saddened to know that Ritu Raj passed away. We lived in the same building, he was a part of my first film as a producer. Lost a friend and a great actor… will miss you brother.”

Actress Renuka Sahane shared a picture of Rituraj Singh and wrote, “Shocking RIP Ritu.”

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta expressed shock as he wrote, “Rituraj!!!! Can’t believe this! I directed him briefly in a daily soap called K Street Pali Hill but in the process we became good friends. Been a while since we hung out but I have such fond memories. Untapped actor and a warm human. Gone suddenly and too early.”

Actress Kavita Kaushik, who worked with him in ‘Kutumb’, wrote on X, “Amazing actor, crazy energy, life of a party. My screen father in Kutumb. Learnt so much from him. Gone too soon, Rituraj. May you find peace and all that you were looking for in another world.”

Rituraj Singh has also starred in films like ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’, ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’, and ‘Yaariyan 2’.

He was also seen in the second season of ‘Made In Heaven’, in which he played the role of Radhika Apte's father.

Rituraj Singh has also starred in Disney+ Hotstar series ‘Criminal Justice’ and Amazon Prime Video series ‘Bandish Bandits’.
