One of the most popular reality shows on Indian television, ‘Bigg Boss’ is the perfect dose of entertainment, packed with the right amount of masala, crazy fights, controversies, drama, romance and insane tasks. Over the years, the Salman Khan-hosted show has made headlines many times for its fights, dirty secrets being revealed or even romances going wrong. It’s safe to say that the drama quotient of ‘Bigg Boss’ is always high.

While the ‘Bigg Boss 16’ is currently underway, let’s take a look at some of the biggest controversies that shook the nation:

1. Sajid Khan’s Participation In ‘Bigg Boss 16’: There are several controversies awaiting us with each new episode as ‘Bigg Boss 16’ season is currently underway, but Indian filmmaker Sajid Khan’s participation has caused quite a stir.

Sajid Khan was accused of sexual misconduct by many celebrities during the #MeToo movement in India. Indian model Paula, actresses Saloni Chopra, Aahana Kumra, Mandana Karimi, Rachel White, and Sherlyn Chopra raised their voices against the harassment they experienced. However, he was welcomed as a contestant for this year’s ‘Bigg Boss’.

Many celebrities have bashed the makers of the show for giving a chance to Sajid Khan to redeem himself and clear his image.

2. ‘Bigg Boss 13’ - Rashami Desai And Arhaan Khan's Ugly Breakup: Rashami Desai and Arhaan Khan’s relationship created quite a buzz during ‘Bigg Boss 13’. While the two initially maintained that they are friends, the audience later got to know that they were dating and had even been living together. But that’s not the controversy!

Their relationship suffered a blow when Salman Khan exposed Arhaan on the reality show. Salman revealed that Arhaan was married and also had a child from that marriage, which Rashami was not aware about. He also hinted at Arhaan was misusing Rashami’s financial assets. Soon after this, Rashami decided to cut all ties with Arhaan.

3. ‘Bigg Boss 10’ - When Swami Om Threw Urine: During ‘Bigg Boss 10’, the late Swami Om courted several controversies. However, the biggest one came when he threw urine at fellow contestants Bani J and Rohan Mehra during a captaincy task. He was thrown out of the house after this incident. He didn’t take the eviction well and had to be escorted out of the ‘Bigg Boss’ house by security personnel.

4. ‘Bigg Boss 7’ - Armaan Kohli’s Arrest: Indian actor Armaan Kohli, known to be short-tempered during the season, was arrested from the reality show’s set after fellow contestant Sofia Hayat filed a complaint against him for hitting her with a mop. A complaint of assault was filed against him initially and the charges of sexual harassment were added later on. The ‘Jaani Dushman’ actor was later released on bail.

5. ‘Bigg Boss 11’ - Zubair Khan’s Alleged Suicide Attempt: Zubair Khan had allegedly attempted suicide in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house. The actor, who was publicised as a relative of Dawood Ibrahim, attempted suicide after he was scolded by Salman Khan. He was lectured by Salman for misbehaving with other contestants. While criticising him, the host called him ‘nalla don’ and said, “Kasam khuda ki, tere ko kutta nahi bana diya na, toh mera naam Salman Khan nahi.” After his eviction from the show, Zubair even filed a complaint against Salman.

6. ‘Bigg Boss 10’ - Priyanka Jagga Kicked Out Of The Show: Priyanka Jagga, who made headlines for using foul language against fellow contestants, was kicked out of the ‘Bigg Boss’ house by Salman Khan. The megastar had initially warned her, however even after the warning, Priyanka’s behaviour remained the same. As a result, she was asked to leave the show during a ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episode.

7. Weddings In The ‘Bigg Boss’ House: It’s not just fights that have led to some of the biggest controversies on the show, but love has also played its part in keeping ‘Bigg Boss’ in the headlines.

In ‘Bigg Boss 4’, Sara Khan and her then-boyfriend Ali Merchant, who entered as a wild card contestant, got hitched on the show. The couple parted ways soon after the show got over, they divorced in two months in 2011.

Apart from Sara Khan and Ali Merchant, Indian actress Monalisa, a popular name in the Bhojpuri industry, got married to her boyfriend Vikrant Singh Rajpoot in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house. The two are still going strong and recently celebrated Karwa Chauth together.

8. ‘Bigg Boss 4’ - The Dolly Bindra-Shweta Tiwari Faceoff: Shweta Tiwari and Dolly Bindra, who joined as a wild card, made headlines during the reality show’s fourth season. Dolly Bindra, who was known for her loud antics and violent behaviour, went quite personal, and said several disrespectful things to Shweta Tiwari. She even threatened to reveal “all about her past” on camera, leaving Shweta extremely disturbed. In another cat fight, Dolly Bindra even physically hurt the ‘Kasautii Zindagii Kay’ actress.

9. When Rahul Mahajan, Vikas Gupta Tried To Escape The ‘Bigg Boss’ House: During the first season of ‘Bigg Boss’, Rahul Mahajan grabbed headlines when he broke the rules and tried to escape the house by climbing up the boundary wall.

Actor Kushal Tandon also attempted to do the same during ‘Bigg Boss 7’ and in later seasons, Ali Quli Mirza and Vikas Gupta too tried to escape the house.

10. ‘Bigg Boss 13’ - Madhurima Tuli-Vishal Aditya Singh’s Fight: Vishal and Madhurima, who entered ‘Bigg Boss 13’ after a bitter breakup, got into an ugly fight which even led to the latter's eviction from the reality show.
