Netizens Call Out Juhi Parmar As She Pens Scathing Post About ‘Barbie’ After Walking Out Of Movie With Daughter
‘Kumkum’ actress Juhi Parmar penned a lengthy note against the new Hollywood movie ‘Barbie’, stating that it's not suitable for children.
Indian TV actress Juhi Parmar, best-known for starring in the popular daily soap ‘Kumkum’, was recently criticised by a section of social media users over her lengthy post on Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’. For the unversed, Juhi Parmar took to Instagram and expressed her disappointment over the new Hollywood movie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. In a scathing post, she accused the makers of ‘Barbie’ of misleading her and other parents about the film’s content, which according to her included “inappropriate language and sexual connotations”.
In her Instagram post, Juhi Parmar revealed that she walked out of the theatre with her 10-year-old daughter after watching 10-15 minutes of ‘Barbie’ , which is rated PG-13.
Juhi Parmar began the lengthy note by accepting her mistake of not checking the ratings before taking her daughter to watch the new Hollywood movie. She then went on to bash the film, saying that she was “anxiously running out of the theater wondering what had I just exposed my child to.”

However, Juhi Parmar’s post on ‘Barbie’ received mixed reactions from the social media users with several of them schooling her over what the new Hollywood movie was actually about.
Some of the netizens also told her that she should have checked the age ratings before complaining about the content.
One social media user wrote, “Wow you really missed the entire core of the movie. Disappointing.”
Another one added, "And who's problem is it that you took your underage child to watch that movie?"
A third one commented, "How can you say you didn't check the ratings? I mean isn't that an easy way out to put the blame on the makers. This is the height of being an irresponsibility and then we preach about being responsible parenting kamaal hai Ma'am."
“Barbie was never meant to be a children's film. It is for the generation who have grown up with Barbie... The millennials perhaps,” another comment read.
A user wrote, “Indian daily tv actors should be the last one's to comment on any "content" .... Indian kids grow up watching all those toxic nonsense daily soaps.”
“It was obvious from the trailer that this is not a CHILD friendly film, directed by greta, with margot robbie. YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT,” another comment read.
Another Instagram user commented, "This post is completely biased, wrong and unnecessary. It is obvious that you walked out within the first 10 minutes because if you would've stayed you would understand the point of the movie and it's not meant to cater to your 'perfect' illusion of Barbie. it actually teaches young girls a valuable lesson of sexism and perfect female beauty standards which need to change."
The film, which released on the same day as Christopher Nolan's ‘Oppenheimer’, has earned approximately Rs 21.15 crore within its first four days in India.
Barbie has performed remarkably well in its top 10 markets, with North America leading the pack at USD 162 million. The UK follows closely with USD 22.9 million while Mexico and Brazil secured figures of USD 22.3 million and USD 15.9 million, respectively.
