"Scripted Drama": Shark Tank India Slammed After Actress Parul Gulati Gets What She Asks In Her Pitch
Fans are not pleased with Shark Tank India, and the reason is actress Parul Gulati and what she ended up getting from the sharks.
Shark Tank India is one show that enjoys massive popularity because of the opportunity the reality TV show presents to entrepreneurs. For the unversed, Shark Tank India gives a chance to entrepreneurs to make business presentations to a panel of investors or 'sharks', who then eventually decide whether to invest in their company or not. What makes the show stand out is that all the entrepreneurs are from normal backgrounds and they are not celebrities or famous people.
So perhaps this is the reason why fans were left fuming when the finale of Shark Tank India Season 2 dropped on Sony TV.
One of the final pitches on the show is being severely criticised and the reason being -- Parul Gulati and her hair extension brand.
For the unversed, Parul Gulati is an actress who has appeared in shows like 'Girls Hostel', Your Honor' amd 'Illegal - Justice' and 'Selection Day'.
On Shark Tank India, she spoke about what led to her starting her entrepreneurial journey since she was already an actress. She also spoke about her brand that caters to different hair problems that women face such as hair loss and hair thinning. The sharks were so impressed with her pitch that Amit Kan ended up offering her Rs 1 crore for 2 per cent of equity which was what exactly asked by Parul Gulati.
This was a highly unlikely case where an entrepreneur ends up getting what they ask for without any bargain on the show.
So, when the clip was shared by the official handle of Shark Tank India, fans made their disapproval known.

"Another scripted drama. Isse acha kisi aur business ko opportunity de dete jinko jarurat thi ,iss pitch ke wjh se koi deserving business ko mauka nhi mila, she is an influencer at the end of day , already have fame and everything. This pitch sucks poore season mein 5,6 pitches aisi hai jinke jagah kisi aur ko hona chahiye tha. Seriously too much scripted drama," wrote one user.
"Influencer ko marketing ki kya requirement,.....and why Shark Tank actually stepping towards failure...kahi to celebrities ko dur rakho...koi platform to genuine rehne do," wrote another user.
"Better to support some small or common man start ups. She is an actress, can arrange fund by herself," commented one user.
"Idk why the sharks were running after her like puppies. She didn’t know her numbers. She isn’t full time into this business. If someone else didn’t know their numbers they wouldn’t even last a minute in the tank they’d get sent home saying you didn’t know your numbers and you aren’t fully invested in the business. They tell others to quit their jobs to be fully into their business and here they’re all lallu pallu over her. And the fact that she sounds so arrogant, there’s no humility in her. There’s no place for her attitude in front of the sharks," commented another user.
On the show, Parul Gulati had said that she has almost zero budget for marketing and she still manages to run a successful business of her won.
However, her claim was dismissed by shark Anupam Mittal who said that Parul Gulati uses her more than 2,00,000 followers of her company and 1.3 million followers of her own to promote the business.
