Bombay High Court Pauses Release Of Netflix's Docuseries 'The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth'
The release of the Netflix documentary on Indrani Mukerjea, has been stalled.
'The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth', the documentary on the sensational Sheena Bora murder case, was all set to start streaming on Netflix from February 23, but we have some sad news for you. In the latest entertainment news, the release of the Netflix documentary on Indrani Mukerjea, has been stalled. The Bombay High Court has told streaming platform Netflix to organise a screening of the docu-series for officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the Sheena Bora murder case.
As per NDTV, the court has asked Netflix to organise a special screening for CBI officials and lawyers. The matter will be heard next Thursday, meaning that the docu-series won't start streaming on Netflix this month.
Earlier, the CBI had requested the Bombay High Court to stall the docu-series' premiere on Netflix till the trial in the murder case is complete.
"Why should the CBI not be allowed to see the series. What is the difficulty in sharing the docuseries," asked the court, as per NDTV.
Earlier, a special court had rejected the CBI's request to stop the release of the docuseries.
For the unversed, US-based MakeMake and the India Today Group have produced the series.
The participants in the documentary include Indrani Mukerjea, Vidhie Mukherjea, Mikhail Bora, Ranjeet Sangle and Rajdeep Sardesai among others.
Talking about Indrani Mukerjea, she was granted bail by Supreme Court in 2022, nearly seven years after she was arrested by the Mumbai Police for the murder of her daughter, Sheena Bora.
As per Indian Express, the police had claimed that Sheena Bora was the daughter of Indrani from a previous relationship. When the case was eventually handed to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the agency also booked Peter Mukerjea, the then-husband of Indrani Mukerjea.
