Twitter In Meltdown After Netflix Cancels Popular Show After One Season
Streaming giant Netflix has cancelled a popular show after just one season, and Twitter is having none of it.
Streaming giant Netflix has not renewed '1899' and the show has been cancelled after just one season. The news was confirmed by series co-creater Baran bo Odor on his Instagram account. “With a heavy heart we have to tell you that ‘1899’ will not be renewed,” Odar wrote. “We would have loved to finish this incredible journey with a second and third season as we did with ‘Dark.’ But sometimes things don’t turn out the way you planned. That’s life," he added in his statement.
“We know this will disappoint millions of fans out there. But we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts that you were a part of this wonderful adventure,” the statement continues. “We love you. Never forget," he wrote.
However, the news of Netflix cancelling '1899' after just one season has not gone down well with the fans and they are asking the streaming giant to reconsider their decision.
Here are some of the fan reactions:

The story and the international cast make it unique. This is a disrespect to the creators, actors and audience !#save1899 pic.twitter.com/yjFprZFSPE
Dear @Netflix - I personally know how it feels to have your series canceled on a cliffhanger. It's deeply heartbreaking. So trust me when I say: Canceling 1899 goes against audience desire, finality & the magic of cinema. So keep cinema magic alive & renew #1899Netflix#Save1899 pic.twitter.com/2OmbUY6Kpj

Netflix will have 300 shows about people cooking and fuck boys on desert islands, but you cancel literally every original or good show? What is even the point #1899Netflix

Ever since the news of '1899' not being renewed surfaced, fans started trending #1899Netflix on Twitter.
'1899' was a follow-up to Adar and Friese’s previous series 'Dark'.
'1899' was a show revolving around a group of immigrants aboard a ship which witnesses some mysterious events. The show had premiered on the platform on November 17, 2022.
The show had registered good numbers in terms of viewers and it managed to enter Netflix's Top 10 chart at the No.2 slot, only behind much-acclaimed 'The Crown' Season 5.
As per Variety, '1899' had garnered about 79.27 million hours of viewership.
