YouTuber CarryMinati held a live stream and as a result, he collected Rs 13 lakh for the relief work.

Popular YouTuber Ajey Nagar who goes by the moniker CarryMinati recently hosted a four-hour charity stream on his YouTube channel 'CarryisLive' for the victims of the Odisha train accident. For the unversed, three trains collided on Friday, and it resulted in one of the biggest rail tragedies in India. CarryMinati held a livestream to raise funds which will be donated towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund-Government of Odisha.

Taking to Twitter, Ajey Nagar wrote: "I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported the charity stream yesterday. Thanks to your generous contributions, we were able to raise a total of INR 11,87,611.64 by 1 pm today. To further enhance the impact, I have personally added INR 1.5 lacs, bringing the total to INR 13,37,612." 

"Moving forward, we will provide regular updates every two days, and if any offline donations come in, we will ensure they are transferred as well. I feel immensely proud and grateful for all of you. bohot bohot shukriya yaar," he added.

This is not the first time that CarryMinati hosted such a fundraiser. He has previously hosted livestreams for the flood-ravaged states of Assam and Bihar in 2020.

He had then raised Rs 12 lakh, which included Rs 1 lakh personal contribution by him. 

Talking about the Odisha train accident, at least 275 people have been killed and over 1,000 have been left injured, reported NDTV.

The three-train collision involved the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a goods train.

Over 3,400 passengers were travelling in two trains, as per railway officials.

The death count in the three-train crash was earlier revealed to be 288, but then it was revised to 275 by the Odisha government. They said that some bodies were counted twice earlier, reported NDTV.
