Watch: Sargam Koushal Is New Mrs World, India’s 1st In 21 Years

India's Sargam Koushal on Monday won the Mrs World title at a gala event in Las Vegas and as a result, the title has come to India after a span of 21 years.

Sargam Koushal has won Mrs World title for India.

India's Sargam Koushal on Monday won the Mrs World title at a gala event in Las Vegas and as a result, the title has come home to the country after a span of 21 years. Sargam Koushal defeated contestants from 63 other countries to win the top prize. The official Instagram handle of Mrs India pageant shared the news, saying: "The long wait is over, it's after 21 years we have the CROWN back!"

As soon as her name was announced, Sargam Koushal burst into tears. Koushal hails from Jammu and Kashmir. 

For the final round, Sargam Koushal chose to wear a pink centre slit glittery gown which was designed by Bhawna Rao 

Previously, it was Dr Aditi Govitrikar who had won the Mrs World title in 2001 and it was the only time that someone from India had taken home the top prize. 

Aditi Govitrikar took to her Instagram stories to congratulate Koushal, saying: "Heartiest congratulations @sargam3 @mrsindiainc so happy to have been part of the journey.. it was time the crown came back after 21 years."

Mrs World is the first beauty pageant for married women. The pageant was started in 1984.

Earlier the title was known as Mrs Woman of the World and the name to Mrs World was changed in 1988. 

Over the years, Mrs World title has been won by America most number of winners.
