Since, it is the season of box office clashes, we have decided to formulate an article, listing the major box office clashes between Bollywood movies.
No filmmaker or actor wants their movie to clash with another movie at the box office. Whenever a box office clash, it reduces the chances of a particular movie making loads of money as audiences are spoilt for choices. However, there are times, when two movies release on the same day, and both end up making money. 2023 has seen two high-profile clashes at the box office. One was from Hollywood, and the other was from Bollywood.
In July 2023, two Hollywood biggies 'Oppenheimer' and 'Barbie' were released on the same day. Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' enjoyed a great word of mouth, while Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' received mixed word of mouth. 'Barbie' might have made more money but 'Oppenheimer' was also able to do good business, and for an R-rated film, the collection was tremendous.
Coming to Bollywood, 'Gadar 2', starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, clashed with Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam-starrer 'OMG 2', as both movies released on August 11, as per the latest Bollywood news.
While 'Gadar 2' went on to do business of more than Rs 500 crore, 'OMG 2' also made more than Rs 120 crore, and collectively, the success of these two movies was labelled as 'Oh My Gadar', just like 'Oppenheimer' and 'Barbie's success was called 'Barbenheimer'.
December 2023 is now going to see two high-voltage clashes at the box office. On December 1, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal will be going up against each other with their respective releases -- 'Animal' and 'Sam Bahadur'.
Then Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dunki' will be clashing against Prabhas' 'Salaar'. For the unversed, 'Dunki' directed by Rajkumar Hirani is going to release on December 21, while 'Salaar' will be releasing a day later on December 22.
