"No One Is Forcing You…": Adnan Sami's Passionate Defence Of Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal'
Music composer and singer Adnan Sami compared Ranbir's 'Animal' to classics like 'Amar Akbar Anthony', 'Sholay', 'Deewar', 'The Godfather', 'Scarface'.
When was the last time you saw people criticising or defending a film without even watching it? Sandeep Reddy Vanga's latest directorial 'Animal' has sparked such a debate that many viewers who have not even seen the film are either defending it or criticising it. For the unversed, 'Animal', starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna and Triptii Dimri, released in theatres on December 1, and the new Hindi movie has generated polarising reaction and many have criticised it for being highly problematic and misogynistic.
In the latest entertainment news, music composer and singer Adnan Sami, without even watching the Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directorial, took to social media to defend 'Animal', saying since the new Hindi movie has been given an 'adults only' certificate, it was meant for an audience that was mature enough to understand the difference between what is right and wrong.
In his post, the singer compared Ranbir's 'Animal' to classics like 'Amar Akbar Anthony', 'Sholay', 'Deewar', 'The Godfather', 'Scarface', saying that despite their not-so-logical sequences and glorification of crime, these films are considered to be great cinema.
"Can people pls stop over analysing, over thinking & over ‘moral-policing’ films? ITS-JUST-A-FILM!!! It’s a fantasy… It’s entertainment!! If you’re looking for logic then also tell me the logic behind the illogical blood donation scene that featured in Amar Akbar Anthony. Three sons of a mother donate blood to her at the same time through a singular tube! That movie is hailed as a cult classic & rightly so because we all love it! Explain the morality shown in Deewaar or the logic behind ’Thakur’ beating the crap out of Gabbar in the climax of Sholay with just his feet & no hands," Adnan Sami wrote on Instagram.
"That too is an incredible classic which we love!! The Godfather has us rooting for the bad guys again… Quentin Tarantino is considered a genius who has made a career out of gore!! We loved Al Pacino in ‘Scarface’!! If a movie is given an ‘A’ rating it means that only an adult can see it because an ‘adult’ is mature & educated enough to understand between what is right & wrong morally & thus would not get negatively impacted or influenced by the content of the film! So just chill watch the movie; get entertained & go home," he added.
Further in his post, Adnan Sami said, "And, NO, I haven’t seen ‘Animal’ as yet but will always defend the right of a creative artist to express what they want to in any form of ‘art’. We as an audience have the right to like it or reject it as per our aesthetics! But it is important for us all to co-exist along with a ‘live & let live’ policy!! No one is forcing you to watch or hear anything; similarly don’t force your opinions on others, especially when those people are presenting a fantasy!! ITS-JUST-A-FILM."

Talking about 'Animal', the new Hindi movie which released in theatres, has collected more than Rs 240 crore across all languages in India.
This box office performance of ‘Animal’ is huge considering it is an 'A' (adults only) film and has a runtime of more than 3 hours. ‘Animal’ also clashed with Vicky Kaushal's 'Sam Bahadur' at the box office.
It can be safely said that 'Animal' is expected to rule the ticket counters until Shah Rukh Khan's ‘Dunki’ releases in theatres on December 21. A day later, Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’ will also be releasing in theatres.
