‘Kannappa’, starring Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, and ‘Maa’, produced by Ajay Devgn and starring Kajol, are both set to hit theatres on June 27.

Directed by Vishal Furia, ‘Maa’ is a mythological horror drama that weaves the story of a mother fighting sinister supernatural forces to save her daughter from a deadly curse. The film draws inspiration from Goddess Kali and explores the divine wrath channelled through maternal strength.

It features a strong ensemble including Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, Gopal Singh, Jitin Gulati, and Yaaneea Bharadwaj. The movie will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali.

‘Kannappa’, on the other hand, is a mythological fantasy thriller based on the legendary devotee of Lord Shiva. The film stars Vishnu Manchu in the titular role and features a powerhouse cast including Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Madhoo, Mohanlal, Prabhas and Kajal Aggarwal. The film promises grandeur and spiritual spectacle, and will be released in five languages: Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.

With both films celebrating devotion and divine strength in unique ways, June 27 is shaping up to be a blockbuster Friday at the box office.
