Akshay Kumar arrived in Hyderabad and met the team of Vishnu Manchu’s ‘Kannappa’, confirming his Telugu cinema debut.

Akshay Kumar, who made his acting debut with a brief cameo in Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Aaj’, is often fondly referred to as ‘The Khiladi Kumar’ of Bollywood. He has showcased his talent across various genres, from action-packed blockbusters to socially relevant dramas and comedies. The actor, who gained widespread recognition with the 1992 film ‘Khiladi’, has delivered memorable performances in films like ‘Mohra’, ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’, ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Namastey London’, ‘Pad Man’, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, ‘Good Newwz’, ‘Kesari’, ‘Airlift’, and more.

Recently, Akshay Kumar came out with the new Hindi movie ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’. It is a particularly important film for him as his last box office hit was the 2023 movie 'OMG 2', in which he had an extended cameo and served as the producer. The superstar's last few films like 'Ram Setu', 'Samrat Prithviraj', 'Mission Raniganj', and 'Selfiee', have all tanked at the box office.

Amid the underwhelming performance of ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, Akshay Kumar has boarded the cast of Vishnu Manchu-starrer ‘Kannappa’. Vishnu Manchu, who will play the lead role in ‘Kannappa’, shared the news of Akshay Kumar's casting on his Instagram account along with a video.

While the makers of the film have not revealed the details about Akshay Kumar’s role, Sacnilk reported that the actor will play the role of Lord Shiva in the movie, which will mark his Telugu cinema debut.

As per reports, the upcoming mythological movie will follow the journey of Kannappa, an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva.

Akshay Kumar had previously played a ‘messenger of Lord Shiva’ in the 2023 movie ‘OMG 2’ with Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam.

‘Kannappa’ is being directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by Manchu's banners AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory.

The upcoming Telugu movie also stars Preity Mukhundhan, Mohanlal, Prabhas, Mohan Babu, R Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, Madhoo, and Mukesh Rishi. It will also be released in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and English.

Coming back to Akshay Kumar, his latest release is ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. The film also stars Tiger Shroff, Prithiviraj Sukumaran, Manushi Chhillar, Alaya F and Sonakshi Sinha.
