Rajinikanth won hearts after a viral video showed him greeting fans on a flight while travelling economy to Goa for the ‘Jailer 2’ shoot.
True stardom isn’t just about luxury, it’s about humility and few embody that better than Rajinikanth. The Tamil superstar, currently filming his much-awaited movie ‘Jailer 2’ directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, has once again proven why he’s loved beyond the screen. A video of the legendary actor travelling to Goa in an economy seat and warmly greeting fans on a commercial flight has gone viral, winning hearts online for his simplicity and down-to-earth nature.

The video, trending online, showed Rajinikanth seated toward the front of the aircraft. As soon as passengers realised who’s on board, phones were pulled out and cheers erupted through the cabin. The 73-year-old actor stood briefly, acknowledged everyone with a warm wave, and sat back down, visibly humbled by the love. The cabin crew, too, were seen smiling as applause broke out – turning the flight into what one fan aptly described as “a mini theatre.”
What particularly caught fans’ attention was that Rajinikanth, one of India’s highest-paid stars, was flying economy instead of business class. Admirers flooded social media with comments praising his grounded nature.
“Superstar #Rajinikanth turns a flight into a mini theatre with his charm! On his way to Goa for the #Jailer2 next schedule,” one user posted on X (formerly Twitter). Another wrote, “Rajinikanth in an economy seat — yet the aura around him feels first class.”
The legendary actor’s humility has once again reinforced why he remains adored across generations. As one fan put it, “Only Rajinikanth can make an ordinary moment feel extraordinary.”
Rajinikanth, who has had a remarkable year professionally, was last seen in ‘Coolie’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, which grossed over Rs 518 crore worldwide.
Earlier in 2024, he appeared in his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s ‘Lal Salaam’ and TJ Gnanavel’s ‘Vettaiyan’. He will now reprise his role as ‘Tiger’ Muthuvel Pandian in ‘Jailer 2’, with Ramya Krishnan returning as well. Actor Shiva Rajkumar confirmed a cameo, while Balakrishna is set to play a key role in the sequel.
Apart from ‘Jailer 2’, Rajinikanth is also expected to star alongside Kamal Haasan in an upcoming project jointly produced by Haasan himself. Although an official announcement is awaited, both icons have confirmed the collaboration – fuelling massive anticipation for what could be one of Tamil cinema’s most historic pairings.
