Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon were one of the most-loved couples of the 90s. They would often set the screen on fire with their crackling chemistry in Bollywood movies. The two were also believed to be in a relationship and were said to have been engaged 20 years ago. However, the engagement was called off. Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon made headlines in May 2023 when they reunited on stage during an award ceremony. Now, according to a report by Pinkvilla, Akshay and Raveena are all set to reunite for a film.
Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar, who have shared screen space in popular movies like ‘Mohra’, ‘Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi’, and ‘Barood’, are reuniting for the third part of the ‘Welcome’ franchise, titled ‘Welcome To The Jungle’.
The Pinkvilla report quoted an unnamed source saying, “Akshay and Raveena have worked together on multiple films including cults like Mohra. Their last collaboration was Police Force: An Inside Story. It has taken 20 years and a comic caper like Welcome 3 to bring the two of them together. While details of their dynamic in the film have been kept under wraps, however, it is unlike anything they have done before."
The source added, "Welcome 3 is titled Welcome to the Jungle and is an adventure comedy with a big ensemble. The prep work is in progress and the shoot schedule will be chalked out soon. Both Akshay and Raveena are excited about this reunion."
It will be interesting to see another iconic on-screen couple return to the silver screen after witnessing the frenzy around the reunion of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in ‘Gadar 2’.
For the unversed, Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon were amongst the most popular B-town couples in the 1990s.
They have starred together in films like Rajiv Rai's 1994 action thriller ‘Mohra’, Umesh Mehra's 1996 action film ‘Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi’, Sunil Agnihotri's 1997 action film ‘Daava’, Pramod Chakravorty's 1998 film ‘Barood’, and Sameer Malkan's 1998 action film ‘Keemat: They Are Back’.
They have also given us two wildly popular songs: ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’ and ‘Tip Tip Barsa Pani’.
Talking about ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, it is an adventure comedy and the third installment in the Welcome franchise.
‘Welcome’ and ‘Welcome Back’, both produced by Firoz Nadiadwala, have earned a special place in people’s hearts. The first installment, which released in 2007, featured stars like Katrina Kaif, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, and Mallika Sherawat.
‘Welcome Back’, which released in 2015, continued the legacy with stars like John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, Dimple Kapadia and Naseeruddin Shah.
