Akshay Kumar's next movie titled 'Sky Force' is set against the backdrop of the 1965 India-Pakistan war.

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who is gearing up for the release of ‘Mission Raniganj’ co-starring Parineeti Chopra, is all set to feature in the upcoming film 'Sky Force'. Production houses Jio Studios and Maddock Films have announced that 'Sky Force' would be releasing in theatres on October 2, 2024, in commemoration of the 100th birth anniversary of former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. For the unversed, 'Sky Force' is set against the backdrop of the 1965 India-Pakistan war.

The makers said that the film is an untold, true story that will vividly portray the bravery, emotions, and patriotism of the courageous men who participated in India's first and deadliest airstrike against Pakistan.

Jio Studios and Maddock Films also shared a 55-second announcement video. "Get ready to witness history like never before," read the caption.

The promo begins with a voiceover from a person identified as Pakistan’s President at the time, Muhammad Ayub Khan. He issues a message to India. Then, the video transitions to a clip featuring India's then Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. He says that the nation harbours no fear of anyone.

For the unversed, 'Sky Force' is being directed by Sandeep Kelwani and Abhishek Kapur. The movie will also mark the debut of Veer Pahariya in a prominent role. Veer Pahariya is the maternal grandson of former Maharashtra chief minister Sushilkumar Shinde.

Before trying his hand at acting, Veer Pahariya was an assistant director. He has worked on ‘Bhediya’, starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles.

'Sky Force' is being bankrolled by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande. 'Stree' and 'Bhediya' director Amar Kaushik is also a part of the project as a creative producer.

Talking about Akshay Kumar, he will next be seen in 'Mission Raniganj', which is slated to release in theatres on October 6, 2023.

Apart from Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra, the movie also stars Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in pivotal roles.

The new Hindi movie has been directed by Tinu Suresh Desai while it has been produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, and Ajay Kapoor. For the uninitiated, 'Mission Raniganj' is based on a real-life incident that happened in Raniganj Coalfields, West Bengal, in 1989.

During that time, 64 miners were trapped in a flooded coal mine, and engineer Jaswant Singh Gill ended up risking his life to rescue the miners.
