It’s Confirmed! Alia Bhatt Set To Join YRF Spy Universe, Filming To Begin This Year
Alia Bhatt has joined the YRF Spy Universe alongside Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan.
Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, who made her debut with Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year’ alongside Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra, didn’t leave a lasting impression with her acting stint in the 2012 film. And while many thought she was just another star kid, she proved otherwise by showcasing her impeccable acting range in movies like ‘Highway’, ‘Raazi’, ‘Udta Punjab’, ‘Darlings’, ‘Gully Boy’, and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. She was last seen in the hit Karan Johar directorial ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, co-starring Ranveer Singh.
In 2023, Alia Bhatt also achieved global recognition with her Hollywood debut ‘Heart of Stone’ and collaborations with luxury brands. And now, she has officially joined the YRF Spy Universe alongside Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan.
This confirmation comes after months of speculation surrounding Alia Bhatt’s involvement in the YRF Spy Universe. Yash Raj Films’ CEO Akshaye Widhani, on Tuesday, confirmed the major development during FICCI Frames 2024.
Akshaye Widhani said, “I’ll share the worst-kept secret in the industry, which is, Alia Bhatt is headlining a Spy Universe film, and the schedule starts later this year. But talking about this spy universe, we are just so thrilled and excited about having this IP in the studio.”
In the upcoming YRF Spy Universe movie, Alia Bhatt will share screen space with actress Sharvari Wagh, who made her acting debut in ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2. Both the actresses will be seen portraying super-agents in the action entertainer.
Akshaye Widhani also said that he thinks of the YRF Spy Universe as a financial and cultural juggernaut.
He added, “As one of the most prized IPs, we take a lot of pride in it. So there’s a lot of stuff that’s going to come in the spy universe. We’re going to see more and more films getting made under it. But, of course, not going to share everything here. We will talk about it at a more opportune time. For now, I can say that Alia Bhatt is headlining a spy universe film.”
Alia Bhatt’s upcoming film will be the sixth movie in the YRF Spy Universe. So far, YRF has released five films in the spy universe. These include ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, ‘Tiger 3’, ‘Pathaan’ and ‘War’.
YRF is also working on ‘War 2’, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, and ‘Pathaan 2’, featuring Shah Rukh Khan.
