After SRK, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, THIS Female Star To Headline YRF Spy Universe Film
A leading actress is all set to headline the first female spy film in the YRF spy universe.
Yash Raj Films’ spy universe is the biggest franchise in Indian cinema with three superstars - Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Hrithik Roshan - featuring in it. ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, ‘War’, and ‘Pathaan’ have been some of the biggest Bollywood blockbusters. And now, a leading actress is all set to headline the first female spy film in the YRF spy universe and it is none other than Alia Bhatt. The Bollywood actress, who made her debut with Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year’, impressed everyone with her acting prowess in Imitiaz Ali’s ‘Highway’.
She later wowed the viewers with her impeccable performances in movies like ‘Udta Punjab’, ‘Gully Boy’, ‘Raazi’, ‘Dear Zindagi’, and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. Alia Bhatt didn’t stop there as she is all set to make her Hollywood debut with the Netflix film ‘Heart of Stone’ co-starring Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. And now, she is adding one more feather to her cap as Aditya Chopra is planning a big-budget actioner with Alia Bhatt as a female spy.
Variety recently reported that Alia Bhatt will play a super agent in the movie, which will go on floors in 2024.
A source told Variety, “Alia is one of the biggest superstars of our country today and she will play a super agent in the YRF spy universe like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan. This will be another epic action spectacle that will leave people at the edge of their seats. Alia will take on a mission that will push her to the edge and this gritty action film will expand the YRF spy universe further.”
The source added, “Alia will be presented in a whole new, never-seen-before manner in this yet untitled film. Her inclusion in the YRF spy universe indicates that Aditya Chopra is leaving no audience segment out of the equation for this franchise. Alia is the biggest superstar amongst youth and Gen Z of India and she is also one of the most adored actresses of our generation. She playing a spy in an all-out adrenaline pumping entertainer is a big novelty for all audience skews that she appeals to.”
Created by producer Aditya Chopra, the spy universe kicked off with the ‘Tiger’ franchise, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, beginning with the 2012 Bollywood film ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and the 2017 Hindi movie ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’.
It continued with the 2019 Hindi film ‘War’, starring Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor. The latest installment in the YRF spy universe, ‘Pathaan’, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, is the highest-grossing Indian film of 2023 so far.
The next film in the spy universe, ‘Tiger 3’ starring Salman, Katrina and Emraan Hashmi, will release in theatres in November 2023.
Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan will also headline ‘Tiger vs Pathaan’, which will go on floors in January 2024. Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan is returning for ‘War 2’, which will be directed by ‘Brahmastra’ filmmaker Ayan Mukerji. ‘War 2’ will be even bigger as ‘RRR’ actor Jr NTR is also starring in the film.
Coming back to Alia Bhatt, she will be next seen in Karan Johar’s directorial venture, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, reuniting with her ‘Gully Boy’ co-star Ranveer Singh.
The romantic drama also stars Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi in key roles. The film is set to arrive in cinemas on July 28, 2023
