According to industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Housefull 5’ sold 2,52,814 tickets for the opening day of its release, grossing Rs 8.02 crore. If one takes blocked seats into account, then the amount swells up to Rs 13.94 crore.
The term ‘blocked’ refers to the seats that are temporarily unavailable for booking because they have been selected by another user and are being held for a short period while they complete their transaction.
‘Housefull 5’ has been directed by Tarun Mansukhani. Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan are the main suspects for a murder in the film.
The film also stars Soundarya Sharma, Chitrangada Singh, Shreyas Talpade, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Chunky Panday, and more.
During the trailer launch event, producer Sajia Nadiadwala revealed that 'Housefull 5' will be released in theatres with multiple endings to keep the audience guessing.
“I have been thinking about this idea for the past 30 years - how to create a thriller with an X factor that leaves the audience talking long after they leave the theatre. So I came up with a story where every theatre will have a different killer,” he said.
“So if you watch it at Gaiety, it’ll have one killer. If you watch it at Galaxy, there’ll be somebody else. In PVR screen number 4, you’ll see a different killer, and in PVR screen number 5, yet another one. It’s like every time you watch the film, you’ll get a different ending,” he added.
