Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol and more, released on December 1.

It has been over 10 days since the release of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s latest directorial venture ‘Animal’, starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. However, the ongoing debate about the problematic themes in the movie continues to evolve each day. While some people are finding the plot nonsensical, misogynistic, and problematic, others are saying that ‘Animal’ is one of the best Bollywood films they have seen in recent times. The film, which revolves around a scarred father-son relationship, also stars Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, and Shakti Kapoor.

Despite being extremely controversial, ‘Animal’ has become a massive box office. Several actors of ‘Animal’ have been giving interviews about the new Hindi movie. And now actor KP Singh, who plays Ranbir Kapoor’s cousin in the film, has opened up about some behind-the-scenes details from the making of ‘Animal’.

KP Singh said that the film was like Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s “baby” and “he knew every little detail of every scene and he would go into the tiniest of details while shooting.”

He added that Sandeep Reddy Vanga would be extremely “serious” during the shoot and if he saw anyone laugh during the shoot, he would get abused by the director.

KP Singh shared, “Scene ke time pe mazak nahi karte the bilkul bhi. Koi door se bhi hasta hua nazar aa gaya toh unko gaali padti thi.”

On being asked if Sandeep Reddy Vanga would get angry at people on the set, KP Singh said, “Daant toh dete the yaar. Daanta bhi acha lagta hai. Tum daant kha rahe ho toh matlab kuch seekh rahe ho.”

KP Singh then added that when Sandeep Reddy Vanga was not shooting, he was a lot of fun to hang out with.

“He looks serious but he really isn’t. He is quite serious on shoot. He doesn’t like jokes then. Otherwise he would be quite jovial around us,” he said.

KP Singh also shared that the songs ‘Saari Duniya Jalaa Denge’ and ‘Arjan Vaily’ were ready before the shoot and while filming the pre-interval sequence and the climax sequence when these songs were used, the director actually played these tracks so the actors could get into the mood of the scenes.

Speaking about the long duration of the film, which is over three hours, KP Singh said that the OTT version might include all the deleted scenes as well and this could be around four hours.

‘Animal’, which has been accused of glorifying misogyny and toxic masculinity by several social media users, is doing immensely well at the box office. It is inching close to the Rs 500 crore mark at the Indian box office.
