"Illiterate, Uneducated": 'Animal' Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga Slams Critics Of His Film
'Animal' director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has lashed out at a few critics, who did not like his latest directorial.
'Animal' directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, is one of the most successful movies of 2023, and the new Hindi film has already collected more than Rs 500 crore at the domestic box office. However, one cannot deny the criticism that the film is receiving for glorifying toxic masculinity. Many famous film critics have labelled 'Animal' as the "worst movie of 2023".
In the latest entertainment news, Sandeep Reddy Vanga has broken his silence, and he has lashed out at critics, who gave negative reviews to his film.
"Ek banda apne balcony se chila ka 50 logon ko bolega ki 'Animal mat dekhna, pagal film hai', I would appreciate him, as he's not earning anything from that. But yeh log YouTube pe videos banate hai na. Inn logo ko paisa bhi aata hai uss mein se. So you're making money, fame, name, everything by criticising my film, then go ahead. That's what happened with most of the critics during Kabir Singh. Their shot to fame was criticising Kabir Singh," Sandeep Reddy Vanga said in a conversation with Connect FM Canada.
"One thing I have understood, almost five years in Mumbai, there is a gang who likes only one particular kind of films, they praise that particular films. You know there is a culture of giving money to them (critics), I never did that. I never do that. If you notice, I have never tweeted about any movie review I have received. The only review I shared was of RGV because of the respect I have. Maybe I am not in their good books, that is why they talk nonsense about my films," he added.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga did not stop here, and he went on to term critics "illiterate". He also shamed certain famous film journalists like Rajeev Masand, Anupama Chopra and Sucharita Tyagi.
"Because of that Rajeev Masand, Anupama Chopra and that Tyagi girl, unke review ki wajah se, mereko first day opening mila. Nobody speaks about the craft, nobody speaks about the editing, sound design nothing. They are literally illiterate and uneducated when it comes to films, they have no sense of criticising a film. They only see a sensitive point of a film and criticise it. It's dumb dude, what to say. If you want to talk to them face-to-face, then also they don't have guts," he said.

‘Animal’, which has been accused of glorifying misogyny and toxic masculinity by several social media users and critics, is doing immensely well at the box office.
The film is now looking to go past the box office collection of Sunny Deol's 'Gadar 2'. The new Hindi movie, which released in cinemas on December 1 alongside Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sam Bahadur’, has already made more than Rs 500 crore in India.
It remains to be seen how ‘Animal’ performs this week after Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ and Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’ release in theatres.
