Anupam Kher reviews Akshay Kumar's new Hindi movie 'OMG 2'.

‘OMG 2’, starring Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam, released in theatres on August 11. Despite facing tough competition from Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ and Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’, the new Hindi movie has managed to rake in the moolah. The film, which is riding on positive word of mouth, deals with a sensitive topic like sex education. Veteran star Anupam Kher recently watched ‘OMG 2’ with his mother Dulari in a packed theatre. Later, Anupam Kher shared a video of the audience walking out of the hall with a glimpse of his adorable mother.

Anupam Kher took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and praised the entire cast and makers of the new Hindi movie. He went on to call ‘OMG 2’ “spectacular, stylish and a very important film of our times.”

He also hailed the 90s superstars Akshay Kumar, Sunny Deol and Shah Rukh Khan for reviving the box office with ‘OMG 2’, ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘Pathaan’, respectively.

In his tweet, Anupam Kher also said that he spotted parents with their teenage children at the movie theatre, probably hinting at the 18 and 19 year-olds as the film holds an ‘A’ certificate.

Reacting to Anupam Kher’s review of ‘OMG 2’, Akshay Kumar wrote, “Thank you so much my friend, so glad you had a good time. It’s all thanks to team effort and we’re grateful to our audiences for their unending love and support.”

For the unversed, Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher have worked together in several Bollywood films including ‘Special 26’, ‘Aflatoon’, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Baby’.

Anupam Kher had recently also watch Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ and shared his review of the film on Twitter. He called the film "tsunami of emotions".

‘Gadar 2’, also starring Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma, has so far earned Rs 377 crore. Meanwhile, the box office collection of ‘OMG 2’ currently stands at Rs 114 crore.

‘OMG 2’ has been directed by Amit Rai and is a sequel to the hit 2012 film ‘OMG – Oh My God!’. The comedy drama delves into the subject of sex education in Indian schools but received an A (adults only) certificate from the censor board after 25 modifications.

Coincidentally, there is a scene in ‘OMG 2’ featuring Akshay singing the ‘Gadar’ song ‘Udja Kale Kawan’.

Coming back to Anupam Kher, he will next be seen in Kangana Ranaut's ‘Emergency’ and Vivek Agnihotri's ‘The Vaccine War’. He also has ‘The Signature’ lined up for release.
