Veteran actress Asha Parekh doesn't agree with Kangana Ranaut as she believes that true friendships do exist in Bollywood. She explained her equation with contemporaries Waheeda Rehman and Helen, saying it is proof enough of true friendships. The veteran star also said that others who feel otherwise must be asked why as a blanket statement about the industry is not necessarily true. Asha Parekh gave her remark at a News18 India event, where actress Kangana Ranaut was also present earlier.
“Have you seen how close me Waheeda ji and Helen ji are? We have a strong friendship," said Asha Parekh.
When asked if such strong friendships can exist in Bollywood today, Asha Parekh said, "Ab woh Kangana ji se puchiye na, ki kyu nahi hai." It was then that the audience clapped.
"Aapne aisa kyu nahi pucha, ki aap aise kyu bol rahe hai? Aapne kisi se dosti ki hai ya nahi," she added.
When the host said that Kangana Ranaut might be speaking from her own experience, Asha Parekh said, "It is a personal choice of everyone, whether they want to be friends with someone or not. So, you must ask her ki woh kyu nahi dosti karti? Mere saath toh bohot achchi hai woh."
On the work front, Kangana Ranaut is awaiting the release of her next film 'Tejas'. The movis is slated to release in theatres on October 27.
The film, written and directed by Sarvesh Mewara, shows Kangana in the role of an Air Force Pilot.
Kangana Ranaut will also be seen in 'Emergency' this year. The movie based on the life of former India Prime Minister Indira Gandhi is slated to release in theatres in November this year.
