Ayushmann Khurrana recently opened up about his love for South films and revealed who he would like to work with.

Ayushmann Khurrana, who made his Bollywood debut with the 2012 movie ‘Vicky Donor’, has established his name in the entertainment industry by choosing entertaining movies with social messages and serious takeaways. Over the years, many of Ayushmann Khurrana’s popular films have been remade in South movie industry – ‘Vicky Donor’ (2012) as ‘Naruda Donoruda’ (2016) in Telugu, ‘Andhadhun’ (2018) as ‘Maestro’ in Telugu and ‘Bhramam’ (both 2021) in Malayalam, ‘Badhaai Ho’ (2018) as ‘Veetla Vishesham’ (2022) in Tamil and ‘Article 15’ (2019) as ‘Nenjuku Needhi’ (2022) in Tamil.

Ayushmann Khurrana is the only actor in this generation to have so many of his movies remade in South languages. Amid the success of his latest release ‘Dream Girl 2’, Ayushmann Khurrana in an interaction with News18 Showsha expressed his happiness over the same.

He told News18, “The aspiration has been to choose scripts that are clutter-breaking and subjects which are rare and new. It’s great validation coming from down south also. We’ve been remaking their content since time immemorial. So, whenever I go there, there’s a certain sense of respect for me as an endorser of fresh content. If I look back now, I’m proud of my filmography.”

On being asked if he has been approached to be a part of any of the remakes, Ayushmann Khurrana said, “No, I’ve not watched them either.”

Ayushmann Khurrana also went on to reveal that he has been offered a few scripts from the South film industries but he’s in no mood to make a rushed decision.

“There have been conversations but it should also excite me at the same time at the script level. If there’s something exciting and people are heavily invested into it, then I’ll go for it for sure,” Ayushmann Khurrana said.

On being asked who he would like to work, Ayushmann Khurrana took the name of everyone’s go-to director nowadays – Atlee, who has gained more recognition after the success of his directorial venture ‘Jawan’ starring Shah Rukh Khan. But there’s another actor in Ayushmann’s bucket list that he is excited to share screen space with someday.

He said, “I would love to be collaborate with Atlee or Fahadh Faasil. I know they’re poles apart (in terms of their sensibilities). But my filmography is also the same… Dream Girl and Andhadhun belong to two ends of the spectrum.”

Speaking about his love for the Malayalam film industry, Ayushmann Khurrana shared, “I love Malayalam cinema and its simplicity. Their films are so real, it’s almost like there’s no urgency. When you watch them, you become one with the environment in the film, you become a part of it. That’s very interesting.”

On being asked if he has a favourite film, the ‘Doctor G’ actor said, “I love Kumbalangi Nights (2019) and its soundtrack. I wanted to be inside that film’s world. It was just so beautiful.”

Over the years, Ayushmann Khurrana has delivered several hit films like ‘Badhaai Ho’, ‘Bala’, ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ and ‘AndhaDhun’. Currently, he is basking in the success of his latest release ‘Dream Girl 2’, which was released in cinemas on August 25. His new Hindi movie has earned Rs 100 crore at the box office.

This is a huge feat to achieve as ‘Dream Girl 2’ has been facing tough competition from Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ and Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’.
