In the latest entertainment news, Ayushmann Khurrana has responded to the criticism that 'Dream Girl 2' is regressive. In a new interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ayushmann Khurrana said that his movie has the same audience as 'Gadar 2'.
Ayushmann also said that 'Dream Girl 2' would disappoint anyone who watches it with a magnifying glass.
“Ek baat mere mann mein clear thi ki ye film unn logo ke liye hai hi nahi jo magnifying glass le ke baithe hain. Ye clear tha. Agar wo aap dimag se nikaal de. This is for the outright massy comedy commercial single-screen small-town audience. Jo Gadar 2 ki audience hai, wohi iski audience hai. Aap logic nahi laga sakte isme. There's a crazy suspension of disbelief in the film,” Ayushmann said.
“Isme aap intricacies mein nahi ja sakte. Waise koi message nahi hai film ke andar. But dekha jaye toh it's also inclusive enough. Matlab halka sa LGBTQ chhoo ke jati hai. Jo Abhishek Banerjee ka character. Last mei bolta hu, ‘Love is love.’ There's an acceptance. There is a Muslim family jinki shadi ek Sardar se ho rahi hai, ek Hindu se ho rahi hai,” Ayushmann added.
Despite the mixed reviews and the stiff competition from 'Gadar 2' and 'OMG 2', ‘Dream Girl 2’ has continuing with its winning streak at the box office and in the latest entertainment news, it has entered the Rs 50 crore club in less than a week of its release.
In ‘Dream Girl 2’, Ayushmann Khurrana is playing dual roles of Karam and Pooja. Ananya Panday is portraying the love interest of Ayushmann.
Earlier, Ayushmann Khurrana had expressed his happiness over 'Dream Girl 2' getting a good opening. “It feels amazing to deliver my career’s best opening with Dream Girl 2. Dream Girl is a franchise that has given me a lot of love and I’m really happy with the start that Dream Girl 2 has got at the box office,” Ayushmann Khurrana said in a statement.
“As an entertainer, it feels amazing to bring people to theatres and experience them having a great time. Dream Girl 2 is a film that delivers entertainment in spades. It has a big promise that people will laugh their hearts out and it is good to note that the film has lived up to the expectations to take this solid start at the counters,” he added.
Apart from Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday, ‘Dream Girl 2’ also stars Paresh Rawal, Abhishek Banerjee, Rajpal Yadav, Manjot Singh and Vijay Raaz.
‘Dream Girl 2’, directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, is a sequel to Ayushmann Khurrana Khurrana’s 2019 hit ‘Dream Girl’ in which he was paired opposite Nushrratt Bharuccha.
