Ayushmann Khurrana Reacts To Rumours Of Being Roped In For Cricketer Sourav Ganguly’s Biopic

Ayushmann Khurrana, who made his Bollywood debut with the 2012 movie ‘Vicky Donor’, has carved out a niche in the industry by choosing entertaining movies with social messages and serious takeaways. Over the years, Ayushmann Khurrana has delivered several hit films like ‘Badhaai Ho’, ‘Bala’, ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ and ‘AndhaDhun’. Currently, he is basking in the success of his latest release ‘Dream Girl 2’, which released in cinemas on August 25. His new Hindi movie has earned Rs 88 crore at the box office.
This is a huge feat to achieve as ‘Dream Girl 2’ has been facing stiff competition from Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’. With Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ already set for a big opening on September 7, ‘Dream Girl 2’ is thriving at the box office. Amid the success of ‘Dream Girl 2’, rumours have emerged about Ayushmann Khurrana potentially essaying legendary cricketer Sourav Ganguly in his biopic.
Earlier, it was speculated that Ranbir Kapoor will star in the Sourav Ganguly biopic. During a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Ayushmann spoke about the rumours of him taking up the role.
The actor flashed a light smile and said, "I'm not saying anything right now. We have to make an official announcement whenever and whatever that happens."
Speaking about the biopic, Mid-Day reported that Ayushmann Khurrana will be playing the role of Sourav Ganguly in his biopic. Reports also suggest that the filming of the Aishwaryaa Rajnikanth directorial will start from December onwards.
With the success of ‘Dream Girl’ and ‘Dream Girl 2’, fans are eager to know if ‘Dream Girl 3’ is in the works.
When asked about the possibility, Ayushmann said, “I don’t know, you will have to ask Raaj Shaandilyaa (director of Dream Girl and Dream Girl 2). If he comes up with an equally outrageous idea like Dream Girl and Dream Girl 2, we should definitely go for it. And if it has crazy laugh out moments and great gags, then why not? It is a front bencher massy film and once in a while you will see me in that avatar along with my core genre.”
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Dream Girl 2’ has grossed Rs Rs 88.91 crore since its release. The film is a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster ‘Dream Girl’ and featured a star-studded cast, Ananya Panday, Paresh Rawal, Manjot Singh, Seema Pahwa, Annu Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Abhishek Banerjee, Asrani, Vijay Raaz, and Manoj Joshi in pivotal roles.
